You really must come round and look at my holiday snaps, getting a bit like that isn't it?
My parents slide-show evenings, circa '69, were nothing like this, Woof, I assure you. Nor are the infuriating images imposed upon me by my well-meaning but decidedly unperceptive sister-in-law: her loathesome offspring grinning at the edge of some Tuscan farmhouse swimming pool or her with glass of wine in hand, looking smug and a little muffin-top-ish. My mother would serve Ritz crackers and milky coffee; 'The Syllabus' offers something altogether more elegant and refreshing. I only wish I could have been there. Rome, though, at footie time, does have a slightly murky reputation; and Italian youth can be every bit as hideous as our own.

Finally woofy you write about a subject you know something about. For we all recall your much vaunted (by you) attempt an an 'Ivy-entente-cordial' avec Messrs. Chensvold and Boyer in NYC - now if only we had pictures of this now legendary encounter. Problem is you'd only have shots of our American chums asses as they quickly got the measure of you and rushed off to imaginary appointments with their tailors.
^If I remember rightly, Boyer just happened to be there and Chensvold had to get back to his day job.
There was very little build-up, or marketing by Woofboxer that this was an errand of diplomacy, I seem to remember distinctively, he was going to NYC on holiday.
Yes, he mentioned a holiday with his wife.
He did not fly there on his own with a Messerschmitt 110 like someone elso on a "secret diplomatic mission".

You reckon Hepcat? Took me 5 seconds to find this : http://forums.filmnoirbuff.com/viewtopic.php?id=10641. And woody had had his tongue up CC's buttocks for so long before. Talk about coitus interruptus...

E.U.R. if only it was finally.............still, stick around, maybe when you've been here a while you will be able to recognise an internet wind up.
When's your 10K comment contest John?
Can we make this thread a sticky?
Let's not focus on the arguments, though, but on the beauty of what is being said and shown here.
Bit of a non-argument anyway, isn't it ?
Same as the great Roll Call debate...
These things pass the time...![]()
beauty is eternal, innit?
as is quality...
let's hope so!
Note Hank how DJFM did not address your point about making this a 'sticky' - wouldn't like to offend his retard mod mates you see?

Huh?

I thought the comment was a piss take.
As soon as the hit rate drops I'll de-sticky it. Dem's da rules.... Unless you happen open an online shop... ?
Best -
PS - Mods really don't like me all that much ! ![]()
Made it Ma - Top of the forum !
- But let the world know I am a big JG fan. All this banter is only... banter.
I too was only joking - please de-sticky immediately - I honestly do not give a shit who looks at it and what they think.
Haruki Murakami
Absolutely brilliant stuff from John as of late. The Maxine Gordon interview (Jazz Record Center - love that place!) and the bit about those jazz 45s.. Fantastic!
I think someone just superimposed his head onto Moose! I'm sure I've seen that outfit on WAYWT

Well, he is a pretentious arty-farty, scouse champagne socialist, if that is not a contradiction in terms, but you are right: he does have redeeming qualities in his style of prose and he asks the right questions of Dexter Gordon's widow. He is passionate and fanatical, which can sometime intrude into his writing and his horror at and attacks on forum members and mods are somewhat uncalled for.
Still, I would buy him a pint in a pub, but not a double espresso for all the right reasons.
More art, less fart.
Who's John Gall?
Was he EUR?
Yes, my understanding that he was EUR. Unless of course, it was Andy B pretending to be John in one of his many masks.
