I think I take your point, but every 6 months? That doesn't seem very long to me.
Mind you in the case of duck boots anyone who buys them and doesn't actually go hunting is probably thinking that after 6 days
That might be right! Probably my wish was partly intended by the heavy snowfall yesterday ![]()
P.S: But I must admit, I like them. The sole looks better as the sole on original LL Beans, and they have them in brown AND navy - which is nice. I can imagine that they look good in a "sporty" context, with Jeans or Chinos, a Parka jacket etc.

They're not any more preppy than ivy or vice versa...
They're simply a staple of New England hunting gear.

Of course Hank's right. They predate all the marketing terms just like you originally said Leer. Dismiss all of this and do as you please.
A word of advice... be careful with sizing. The toe is like a wellington boot toe. Hard, unforgiving and potentially frostbite inducing. I think you will want to wear thick socks with these boots and this could mean adjusting your preferred size accordingly. I made the mistake of buying some old LL Bean a while back and I had to sell them on after 2 wears as they crippled my toes unless I wore thin socks. The problem then was numbness whilst walking about in the snow.
... still not sure. I want them but I have too many shoes. Really. I'm wanting duck boots for many years now and these are the first that look even better (to me) than the LL Bean (which aren't available here in Austria) and that are not Timberland... We will see.
I might get Red Wing chukkas if there is a sale offer that's reducing the price to less than EUR 160,-- or 150,-- instead (although they might be even less Ivy and a complete different animal, but I love all kinds of chukkas and they look really fine to me).
Thanks Liam for your advice, I would have thought of that "problem" anyway. Also Land's End have a brilliant customer service, I simply would phone them before ordering taking their advice, too. ![]()
I really like the Blazer, btw - looks fine, sleeves are really bloody long, but I'm definitely gonna take Moose's advice, then it should be fine. Also got light yellow Chino shorts and weird Madras shorts for EUR 25,-- in total today. Nice.
Great! I just called them. They've got my size in!
LOL. I like the lights. I've not seen lights in shoes since...

That's from Australia, right?
Of course, hence the snow.

I thought it was the shoomans' car.
I'd pay good money to hear Shooman pronounce 'Azure'.

Azure would too.
Ah! Mind you, it probably does snow where Shooey lives (invisible radioactive snow that can penetrate your thoughts - sent by the government and/or aliens).
Sorry Shooey, only messing man!
You joke now, but it's only a matter of time before Milford Haven gets hit.
In my experience, it already has. Luckily, it's in a different county to me.
Well, basically, it's headed your way, and no amount of Alfalfa sprouts is going keep you safe.
.....you will be missed.

Hi Leer
I have been considering these especially since they have been on sale.
I would be interested to know how you find them?i have ll Bean rubber mocs
which are fine but come the snow and winter no ankle protection (nothing worse than wet socks)
Also what about the sizing? with the Beans they recomended ordering a size down
which i did and it worked out just fine.
regards

Another option might be Swims footwear Armchaired. Their making some rubber hi-tops that look like Converse. Made from rubber but they don't look like it.
Thanks Goodyear i have taken a look ,do you mean the sort of desert boots ? i think they are called" Helmuts".

Hi Armchaired - I find them nice - can't compare them to LL Bean as I never seen LL Bean (they don't ship to Austria or they do, but it would be too expensive, Lands' End operate from Germany where they are running Lands' End via franchise). Good leather (nothing too special but worth the price, the sales price!), rubber's quite nice, too - they are comfy.
It is hard to say as I am somewhere in between EU 42 and 43 normally, depending on the cut of the shoe. They are on the bigger side, sizing down - yes, they are roomy. I ordered UK 9/EU43/US10D first as my LE boat shoes are that size, too - but I had them changed to UK 8/EU42/US9D. Now they fit perfectly, even with fat socks.

Yeah, thats the jobbie, can't really tell too much about them but I've some loafers by them and they've really been hard wearing. Just seen them in a shop, might try a pair for dossing about in during the winter here (Norway).

I keep looking at those Helmuts and i think they are what i am looking for.
Rubber desert boots who'd of thought it ,sound crap but at least on the site look great .
Do Swims have stockists in Blighty do you know?
I think I'd prefer the L.A Gear! ![]()
With you on that one Bop. The only adjective I can think of for that whole swims shoe range is 'BLEURGHEHRGH!'. Each to there own. Bleurgh.
