I have a pair of older japanese LVC 518 'white' levi's which are very similar. Compared to originals the repros are pretty spot on. The fit isn't that tapered but still nice. The rise and top block is really nice, but I ended up having them tapered a little bit more. The fit of older Levi's 519 cords is also roughly the same, and those can be had on ebay for a decent price. I'd recommend seeking out a pair of those rather than dropping a wad on the LVC's, unless you are really sold on the bedford cord fabric.
Thanks man, big help!
I thought they were pretty slim tapered (more so than modern 501's) from these measurements I came across:
Waist - 32.0 / Leg - 29.0 / Rise - 11.25 / Thigh - 9.75 / Knee - 8.25 / Hem - 7.25
I dig the bedford cord fabric but I've been after plain old '60s deadstock khaki chinos forever in an early surfer style cigarette leg cut and it's been a wipe out with eBay and thrifting around for too long, so I may end up pulling the trigger on these and having them taken in a bit more, as needed if I can't find a decent pair on the 'Bay.

Yeah, if they are the same fit as the 518's I have (which they look to be) they are quite slim, but maybe not as tapered as those measurements indicate. In the photo they don't look like an exaggerated taper to me, but it's hard to tell obviously. Anyway good luck! The advantage of buying them new is you can always return them if they aren't your thing.
bedford cord isn't really cord. It's just a name given to a weave of cotton that resembles cord, a bit like bald corduroy..similar to the stuff used on the old n1 jackets in the 40's
Those 519s are well worth seeking out btw.

The classic 519 cords weren't riveted and didn't have a watch pocket. They also had seven belt loops and a wider leg opening than these: say 8 1/4".
Looks nice!
"Bedford Cord" is not like your usual corduroy, SMQF, it's finer than the finest needlecord...
Allthough my older 519 's have no rivet's, they do have watchpockets. leg openings about right
Oh, I didn't see it... yes, bald corduroy is a good description....
I've got a line on a bunch of these. Will list a few pairs to see how they do. Been wearing them myself for years. The great white tab, perfect taper, great worn high.
Hi all, just picked up a pair of these in the Brindle colour in a 32/32. The material is excellent and very good for spring / summer here in the Uk. From afar,it looks like a jean but close up more courdroy and extremely soft to touch. I am very happy to have picked them up and will be wearing them in the coming months because i noticed they have sold out here in the Uk and on many websites in the size and colour I was after. I was also glad I chose the 32/32 instead of the 32/34 version because it sits nicely on top of a pair of chocalate brown desert boots and brogues / loafers and is meant to rise a bit high above the shoes.
The only problem now is what colour Top to wear with this brindle colour ?

Hi Jason - Welcome to the forum!
That's a great neutral colour and a lovely fabric. They ought to go with most things... Nothing too dull though up top, maybe?
