The jackets making the wall look good, it needs re-pointing.

Too high above the waist was the badge of the hopeless nerd/engineering student.  High waters were also not cool, the right length is the right length and you either grasp it, have the eye, or you don't.

Re-pointing? Pointing maybe... but even then it doesn't need it. Also thanks for all the kind PM's saying how lovely it is, but it's not even my wall.

Re-pointing, pointing, what it really needs is knocking down and rebuilding, that way it'll look better and you can bury that nonce coat under it.

Liam's Catalina is a lovely jacket.

No issue about the colour or anything else in my eyes...

Gotta think about the HS.

Your inability to appreciate a beautiful dry stone wall has really cast you in a new light for me Soggs. It's almost enough to make me flounce off the forum.

Anyway, Bop the Catalina stitch detail is kosher. Nothing C&A about that addition. See...

Additionally, I won't be apologising for the size of that image because it's flipping great.

I do agree about the colour of the first jacket. Nicer in a darker or lighter shade. I'd still stick my neck out and say it's more indicative of that wonderful American style (whether you call that Ivy/Americana/workwear or something else I don't give a gibbons honk) that we all supposedly love here, than that faux janitor style pile of pish that Soggy posted. The original Woolrich I'm guessing would have been nice. But that one? In Binman blue? Pfft.

Oh aye, big L, I just don't like it much, that's all i meant. I can't find a pic anywhere of the one Redford is wearing that I like. It's a bit different than the Catalina. In fact it's a completely different neck too! I'm not doing very well here.

Either way he's going to have to add some high vis strips to the back of the jackets if he wants those council PPE contracts.

A work in progress.

I agree with Liam (and Mark Coyle and Marlowe) that jacket Welt posted is nasty. I like Liams, love the color. I've seen photos of Clint Eastwood in a similar one I think.( maybe from a Dirty Harry movie)

Think I prefer a raglan sleeve on that type of jacket instead of that chest seam.

Agree Woof. £40 too. Very nice for the price.

I like the raglan sleeve as well Bop. It's a very nice casual jacket all in. I'd rather wear that down the pub.

There's a shot of James Coburn with that collar in HATIL page 120.

Well I'm happy to agree to disagree with Liam, Liams a good cat. He doesn't like Stedmans coat (like every other fucker it seems), I do. I like the colour, I like the design. Marlowe was plain rude, I don't know why he was like that, PMT perhaps? Mark Coyle was just a prick. Full of himself and his own opinion. What room was left was filled with bullshit-There was that much stuff packed in old LPs on those ships the Cunard Yanks never had to buy records when in the USA. They just picked them up off the streets where they were dumped. Thats why those cats went to Dunn & co. to buy their Frankie S hats after seeing him in a hat on Album covers on the pavements, they would never have seen Frank in a hat otherwise. He was never on the TV or in newspapers. Anyway I've got the cunts name and I'll be flicking though the phone book for Coyle when I'm in Nottingham in a couple of months. If he thinks he can insult me on here and get away with it by leaving he's in for a shock. Marlowe on the other hand lives to far away.

HA! Poor Mark.

Soggs, thanks. You're a pretty cool guy yourself. 'The Bold Soggy' you'd be called round my way. A pretty lofty title tbh.

It's good when two grown ups can disagree, poke fun and still be civil at the end of it. Just like down the pub (casual jackets on) on a Thursday, or Wednesday.
