This is a good one Armchaired, I think I posted it up a while back. I would recommend anything by JPM but I think this was the only one he shot in the US

Re: Movie's that inspire the look.

'Walk Don't Run' - Jim Hutton in full Ivy mode and Cary Grant in a more tailored Saville Row look for contrast.

Any of the mid to late 60's Disney 'live action' movies like 'The Love Bug', 'The Absent Minded Professor'' or 'Blackbeards Ghost' are good starters.

Re: Movie's that inspire the look.

I do not know enough about English tailoring to doubt what you say. A&S, it seems, are an exception...

Then again, "soft tailoring", the ideal of the "natural shoulder", rather straight hanging lines with only minimal waist suppression, and almost all other features of typical Ivy tailoring were all rooted in the English sartorial vernacular (see the point I made in post #65 by John Gall quoting from Hardy Amies writings).

Re: Movie's that inspire the look.

I film I hope to see soon but I've read includes Ivy style is Paris Blues which I don't recall anyone mentioning.

Also what about other jazz related films, Man With The Golden Arm, Round Midnight - anything of relevance there anyone?

Re: Movie's that inspire the look.

I enjoy Chet Baker's music but have never watched LGL, I'll have to give it a go.  Thanks.

More jazz film recommendations welcomed.
