Frank Strozier - "Long Night". I really dig the title track.

Jackie McLean's Capuchin Swing.

I listen to it as much for McLean as for Blue Mitchell--that guy is an under-appreciated trumpet player.

Jackie McLean's A Fickle Sonance. This one has Tommy Turrentine on trumpet, another fine player.

Been digging on Gene Ammons' Prestige album 'Blue Gene'. As the title suggests, the emphasis is on blue. I recommend.

I have Gene Ammons - Funky on prestige, that too does what it says on the tin.

The GoGo Penguin albums are on heavy rotation for me, here's a live set filmed at the Old Granada Studios in Manchester...

Just scored a Blue Note connoiseur series version of the hard-to-find Fred Jackson's 'Hootin n Tootin'. It's right up my strasse - the bluesiest of tenor blowing, with Earl Vandyke on organ. And, Ivy fans, Fred is wearing a fantastic medallion print button-down in Mr Wolf's photographs. Which makes it even better.

Playing Big John Patton lately. Let Em Roll & Good Thing Going. Grant Green is amazing in these sessions.

Love me some Grant Green - earthy man.

I believe Fred Jackson also played with Big John Patton on 'The Way I Feel,' also with Grant Green. Which now means I have to buy it.

All Bird with the exception of the first couple which are Dizzy without Parker. The Mosaic set is definitely the best presentation of the Parker and other Dial material, looking forward to the new Savoy set too.

^ + 1 on Gearbox, they put out a really beautiful Kenny Wheeler and Norma Winstone record a while back.
