Not really a bump, just a little bit extra on this old thread on prints and resort wear.

Hardy & Johnson recently sold Georgie Fame a vintage Batik Madras jacket. I'm waiting to see him in it keeping the faith and tearing into his Hammond !
I don't mind the style really. It's certainly less gaudy than straight madras or all out Batik print. A good combination style.
I would wear one. But only at a resort. Pontins probably.
Ok so there is always an exception to the rule. That looks quality
That does look good. But it never will on us pasty faced European types. Not even on Holiday.
I think the only way we could wear a Batik jacket is on stage, in the same way these Jazz musicians would have or indeed Georgie Fame.
Zach has had rather a few very similar Batik jackets.
Jim talks plenty of sense as per usual here...

Well, what equates to sense on Planet Jimbo.

"I think you've got to wear them 'Square' to get the fullest Ivy hipness from them..."
At the very most a blue and indigo one might work on those of us who do not get the sun
Has there ever been an interview with Georgie Fame where he's been asked about his take on Ivy in the UK back in the day?

Soul Stylists? Some of the interviews are good, but the other bits are dire. I mean painfully bad. And, as Harpo and many others have noted, the idea that all these different youth cults are essentially the same is embarrassing. There is some truth to it, but only to a fraction of the extent claimed.
Why is it that every book on mods has been written by someone who is barely literate? (Someone who doesn't like mods could supply an uncharitable answer.)
Even the section on mods in TIL is the weakest part of the book, imo.

I love these guys but the lanyards make them look like coaches turning up for the Japanese handball team or something.

I'd say the Ardsley Hall, Langrock and Manhattan are all very wearable. Half sleeve I think would work best with khaki chinos or brown slacks. Maybe some burgundy Yumas. I can see it working very well.
Love that image too. The print is so subtle as too look more like texture on the shirt. Jacket's a bit loud for my tastes though......
