Re: In Praise of Prints

I still have a bit of a thing for SUPREME from my workwear hippety hop years... only seems like yesterday they were opening on Layfayette..
Did some great T's and sweats early on and still like that white on red logo ha ha.... Can still see MCA sporting a grey hoodie on the front of a mag back in the day which made me search em out! Have an old monkey style jacket by em that still sees action as it goes.. and always liked their coach jackets too...
Used to love UNION too for the record...oh it's all coming out now, eh?!?
X-Large, Stussy, Triple5 Soul, SWISH NYC, Phat Farm... Man, I'm on a NY walkabout in 'the 90s...Dave's and Canal Jeans next stop...and I'll need some new trainers of course...maybe V.I.M. and any of those other countless trainer stores...man, I'll enjoy my Benny's Burrito this evening...
And how good was Urban Outfitters back in the day over there?!?!?

Actually bought a pack of Supreme's Hanes white T's last year as I popped in the London store for nostalgia sake...they've just the small logo on the bottom left... which no-one will ever see or know about, except me....and you bleeders now of course... DOH!!!!

I told the yoof how the store smelled just like the NY one - they use the same incense in all their stores apparently....AW!!!!

Anyhoo - where were we?!?

Erm...Seinfeld?...Yeah...big fan!! And yeah, George looks the mutts above avec beanie!

Re: In Praise of Prints

Do send anything Stan indeed... yeah loved Supreme in the early days...and loved that stuff sold out so quckly and that was it!!!...was always hit n miss when I went...tho' a couple of places stocked bits in London - I've kept all my old bits stored away and still rock the odd tee at times...their sweats were amazing too!!
That simple logo of theirs on a tee is up there with anything for me...
Am almost certain that Swishnyc had big Japanese connections...may even have been Japanese...only a tiny store mind...further down past what was X-Large and off a side road there...
I recall a wonderful older woman at the time who worked in Union too....I used to natter with her for ages ha ha...exchanging titbits on music and respective cities... and delighted to hear Andys Chee-Pees is still there.... totally forgot about that!

Aw...Noo Yoik...God I miss the place....

Yeah right.  That's a picture of your closet.

Re: In Praise of Prints

I dig that Shapely (sounds like a tapered Purist fit!) University Club a lot... it'd look great with high-rise cinch back chinos, weejuns, and dark clunky FDR's!

The rest are a bit too 'overweight middle aged party animal' style for me... I'll leave those to the good timing fat guys. smile

I'm a big fan of print shirts but that is horrendous.

Have to say that none of them float my boat, I prefer a more reserved print.

The pink Madras that's hiding in there looks good actually.

The pink looks a bit 70s-80s Lands End to me.

The JS vintage shirts are going for crazy prices. And yeah the Pink Pendie is one of the new ones.

I'd just like to say that Armchaired is definitely a closet print lover wink

That's exactly the sight all the other boys already aboard the SS Ivy will see as AC and I ferry up to the boat.
