Re: In Praise of Prints

I found an all cotton hugger in a lovely check for $30 a while back, does happen. My favorite vintage shirt is a Sero purist though, Im not sure why all the hype around Gant huggers except for the fact that theyre harder to cone by than some other brands. The huggers I've come across aren't skin tight just slim and tapered, but I s.uppose that depends on whether you're carrying a spare tyre on your waist or not. Definitely not as slim as what's sold as slim fit these days.

Re: In Praise of Prints

Personally, I haven't had a spare tyre since 1992, and I aim to keep it that way.  For one thing, I can't afford to replace my trouser collection.

Still, I have no regrets over discarding slim-fitting shirts.

Re: In Praise of Prints

I wasn't suggesting that you did have a spare tyre, merely an observation. You're a Brooks Makers man through and through aren't you, so I'm guessing a Gant hugger would seem fairly damn slim. I have a 16 neck but a very slim waist for that neck size, which means that a makers in my size is a bit too voluminous in the body for my taste. I do wear them, but always under a jacket with the military tuck employed.

Lol. I suggest you stop suggesting that I'm riled and have a spare tyre or I'll really get riled!

Same here, however they have been linked to homosexuality on previous threads, and I was merely continuing the gay-related but non-homophobic hilarity.

Mikkel Rude are Skinhead shirts.

...So, of course they are linked to homosexuality.

Re: In Praise of Prints

I think of them as a poor copy of skin shirts (which are poor copies of mod shirts, which are poor copies of ivy shirts.  Some may consider ivy shirts poor copies of the English gents' shirts of a century ago).

Do you like Mercer shirts Yuca? I have no experiance of them personally, I really should give them a whirl. The collars look great from what I've seen.

^ charcoal stripe tends to make me look like a well-dressed convict (probably working in a prison library).
