Re: Inane Overdrive-Brave New World Edition, 2013 and Beyond

The problem with the Seamaster range, some of them are quite fashion led and date after a couple of years as the new models come in. I do like the Seamaster Aqua Terra with the blue face and yellow minute dials and hand though. The black quartz is fine too. I recently missed out on the new Speedmaster Skywalker X-33, the place where my missus works get an allotted amount every now and again for an unbelievable price, but of course, her stalling and phoning me meant they were all gone by the time she hit the order button.

The sportswatch under a work suit is a sure sign of a James Bond wannabee and some may say why not? It's pretty much de rigueur in my industry to wear a sportswatch for work. It ties in with the nature of the beast. At one time, the Rolex Sub's where the norm, but it became an afflication and an affectation of those who had just returned from their first rotation in the Middle East or Far East with no or little tax stoppages to pick one up duty free on the way home. Later it became a sign that the person might be a bit dodgy, the types who would contact you with personal emails that had names that were different to their CV's and who had no resident abode outside of Gibralter for the last 20 years. Those days are gone and also the cheap Rolex's in airports are gone.

Which one did you get, I remember you were debating to get the Milgauss a couple of years back.

Nothing incongruous with my position:
1."some" of the Seamaster range date after a couple of years. That's self evident.
2. I do like the Seamaster Aqua Terra with blue face and also the black quartz one. That's my personal preference and you can't argue against personal preference.
3. I would not buy an Omega Skywalker X-33 at the full RRP, but for just over a grand Euros I would and that's the deal that they have at my missus's work, albeit in limited numbers. That's for the newer black face one in titanium bracelet. The blue velcro one is quite hideous.

The LV with the green bezel? An interesting choice, I've only seen one in the flesh. They are coveted in the collector's market.

I have never really had any Rolex do much for me, but the new platinum Yachtmaster is gorgeous. Not sure if I can bring myself to get one though.

I'm considering a MKII Speedmaster, not the new edition, but a 70s second hand one, they can be picked-up pretty reasonably.

It will likely be a few years before I am back in the zone for a serious watch, but I am thinking a Jaeger Le Coultre Reverso is the way to go: urbane, elegant and refined something that very much captures the spirit of the Jazz Age.

I've seen his webpage, but who is he really, a significant character, a dresser to the southern gentleman visiting New York, or something more? He striked me as just another snow flake hipster non-identity.
