Bedrock or not does not preclude one from (intensely) disliking subject item whilst also embracing the Ivy League. It's all good, as my hippie friends (bless their hemplovinng heart) say.

Don't get me wrong. I love, and wear, short-sleeved shirts in the warm months -- just never with a tie or jacket. It feels/looks to me a bit like when you see college kids running around in winter with a thick hoodie sweatshirt and shorts. Incongruous.

/\  Although Ivy abounds with incongruous looks, and I have a bunch of my own favorite incongruities, they don't include short-sleeve shirts worn with ties, which is a comic trope today. 

Hoodies, t-shirts, and shorts always look good to me though. 

I used to see people running around campus wearing that stuff all the time in the winter, squash racquets in hand, on their way to the gym.  I understood why they were leaving their heavy winter clothes back in their rooms, the same way we understand the short-sleeve shirt and tie combination was usually worn by people who were coping with warm weather, workplaces that required ties, and other factors that might have made long sleeves impractical.
