Yeah right. Every vintage jacket I own is some shade of brown, except one that's a blue green. You think they were just holiday wear? And the most famous Brooks shirts were in white or blue; there's no way the latter was just for holidays.
Of course grey was popular for sports jackets, but to say it was the only choice outside of holidays is absurd. As the movies plainly show.
You obviously can't differentiate between a brown tweed with a blue shirt, and a madras jacket. The former was and is conservative, suitable for work and leisure.
And your last post clearly shows the lack of logic in your argument: are you saying Peppard had no leisure time?
It's because those old films are in black and white Leer! Duh..
