I have jackets with both. I like slim lapels, but I'm a slim guy and I think they work proportionaly with my build. But sometimes you don't want to wear something that's too obviously retro, for lack of a better term. Not that there's too much danger there at the moment, as slim lapels seem to be hip at the moment.
