I think it’s fair to say that youth cults particularly Mod has lead a lot of folks to these parts.
Maybe this is a "youth cult" for grown ups.However for me its not necessarily tied into music
or a wider 50's & 60's revival, its just nice clobber. and that is timeless and appropriate for my life and taste.

The "Ralph Lauren way of dress" here in the Netherlands has been as great an influence on me as this foreign, mid century style that preceded it. I believe what once was Ivy has since morphed into an international way of dress. Rather than trying to emulate a historical style from the get go, I was influenced by the sharp combination of natural fabrics like tweeds and twills I could spot ever since I was a youth. I take into consideration that I grew up in an Americanized world. I know my aesthetic preferences were formed not just by watching old movies from the US, but also by actual people who in my eyes simply dressed well. Dutch people. The ones that had that cosmopolitan, Anglo-American edge. Seeing these characters as a kid, businessmen in casual attire, college professors in loafers, has probably been more profound of an influence than studying the Boom Years later in life. I had formed this ideal mental image of how I'd like to look long before I even knew what "Ivy" was. I always knew what I wanted, but I had to educate myself to get back to the origins and to finally achieve a satisfactory look.
Long story short, this is no "hip" reenactment here. It goes much deeper.

No nostalgia for me. The clothes have always been current in my lifetime & still are.
I like various buildings of various sorts and various bits of music and design - All current in my lifetime. I'm especially fond of the Georgian ruin I live in - It's still standing (just) and so it's still current in my lifetime.
My tastes are probably 'classic' in various diverse genres, but that's as far as it goes.

I don't think Mods really care what anyone else dresses like any more. For all Andy's hated of Modernists I still liked him and I think, him me. I was moved (sniff) when he sent me a copy of Absolute (sniff) Beginners. Oh, you've set me off now '66. Where is my Andy? I hope he's doing ok.

Everyone has a choice about how they act. And a sorry is never a sorry.If someone were really sorry, they'd have never done it in the first place IMO, I have no time for people like him. I'm not actually bothered about how he treated me personally, but he was quite happy to try and drive the forum into the ground too, just to make a point against Jim. And he said enough things behind people's backs without them being present to defend themselves. A complete prick of the highest degree.
