Maybe go for the Stutterheim - not cheap but very well made.

They had a pop-up in East London and I spied the cape, got very excited as fancied one (PostalCo was on the list) but not only was the price a bit steep, it's womens only! More of a Mackintosh fabric, but all sealed seams etc.

That's exactly the sort of slicker that would have been worn at the time.... but at that price? What are they playing at? Well, making money obviously but come on!
The whole point of these jackets is they are cheap and trashable. I'd love one of those jackets but I'd be looking to pay 30 not 300.
Some people are sweatier than others I suppose as I have never experienced that. They don't breathe but it had never been so bad that I started sweating profusely. Climate might be a factor in it too.
Or this one also from Lands End.

Prefer it in navy or olive but the black looks good.
Yeah, crazy money, but when you think what Henry's shirts cost, and how he has to sell them at a higher cost as they are handmade in England, well these are hand made in Finland - so surely the same value can be put onto them, I'm sure if they banged them out in China they would be much cheaper. Much like the crazy priced PostalCo ponchos.
At least in the pictures (which may not reflect the item) these look good and have the right colour:

Only available in store though, so Oxford Street opposite HMV for London.
cheers

I suspect many of us are exploring a slicker / fisherman jacket at present. Penfield do one but it has a logo on. Not keen on these white buttons that are popular everywhere on them.
eBay has a few such as these Bellfield's with the big front pockets.

We think the Elka's are expensive, but look at Blacks and the Berghaus and the like are often 200 quid.
Fat Face wouldn't be a usual option but some of these look okay and quite minimalist:

I like the 'Barrier' jacket - olive in colour, no adornments, no logo, better price. It's either that or the Land's End of earlier for me this week I think.

Sorry just seen it, small logo on sleeve of the Fat Face jacket.

Unfortunate. 100% polyurethane doesn't sound very inviting. Probably smelled great too.
I'm finding the non-wool lined 60/40 to be alright in the rain.
The Stutterheim ones are very nice indeed. They're made in Sweden though Tom, not Finland. I'm sad to report that our traditional rainwear brand Rukka has moved production to China and added a horrendous logo on all their gear.
^ Exactly what I've been considering investing in. (I'm now even more likely to get one.)
What's sweatier?
100% polyvinylchloride or 80% Polyvinyl Chloride, 20% Polyester??
I get quite sweaty due to most of my hair now being on my back...apologies to those having breakfast currently...
^ Sounds like my wife.
