Batten sportswear do a cracking 60/40, and they turn up on Sierra Trading Post quite cheap in the summer sale.
Looks ok, although without a lining I think it will only work in the UK for about one month of the year.

I'm very tempted to get an old Woolrich with lining. Do I go vintage, and chance the condition, or spend a sizable sum on O'Connells NOS? Decisions, decisions . . .

^ if there's decent NOS about it's worth the extra expense. IMO
My old Mount Rainer was purchased new over 20 years ago and still looks great ( just needs the hot hair-dryer treatment every couple of years to 'reactivate' the waterproofing ).
I've had a couple vintage ones, an unlined Penfield/Hudson Cloth (USA made late 70's) and an newer lined Bean (80's not USA made), which looked ok but not quite as waterproof as they should have been and they didn't take to re-proofing too well.
^ Rainier not Rainer ( tho an apt name for a showerproof jacket)
£650 for an anorak, and it's sold out:

Who are the people who buy this stuff?

More substantial, but I can't decide if it is thick enough to be a winter jacket - I'm looking for something for the warmer months.

^ Rainier gear used to be much, much cheaper, before the Japanese bought them out.
I paid about £150, and they used to have a 30yr warranty and (a very reasonable) panel repair service for rips and tears.
The new stuff is proper nosebleed pricing.
There still the Sierra Designs too Yuca...

Did JS reduce these in their sale?
According to HTJ, they're the original, so good point Cap'n.
I agree, the Woolrich do look better.
I've got three 60/40 parkas, two Woolrich and one LL Bean. All US made and they all cost under £35. I'd say the Woolrich is more waterproof, but the Bean is more breathable. Apart from that they're very similar, although I've yet to work out what the pocket on the back of the Woolrich is for.
Tracker Bars...
Oh look there is mine... looks like it was 80's

If the ebay seller's throwing in some Lysergic acid diethylamide...I may well consider that one...
I will say most vintage Woolrich pieces I've owned are top notch quality. Really stand the test of time. Though I've never owned a parka / jacket of theirs.
Those who like their St-St-St-utterheims....

Just to let everyone know in case of ordering rain coats from them as discussed in this thread, Lands End has 25% off until end of today. Just type EASTER in the discount code when ordering.
Also from Henry's blog these coats look good http://www.guycotten.co.uk/ and at a decent price.
This is perfect:

Carhartt is pretty temting these days...:

In terms of Carhartt I like the minimalism of this jacket which doesn't seem available in UK:
