Rains jackets are like the Elka ones but cheaper, reliably waterproof and in classic green/yellow/ orange colours. Around 60 notes
Thanks for the follow up Gents...
My unexpected Barbour from yesterday will do me for now...it's pleasantly quite lightweight without the liner... and got it's first christening today....

Chums,
when my Sainted cousin Harris and I use to summer on the island, we'd always pick up a rain slicker or two from the local hardware store. Yellow. Folded up and sealed in plastic bag. Natural shoulder (of course) and straight cut. No darts, not fitting. Hung like a wet sock. Perhaps one of the few things we owned not composed of natural fibers. Similar to the ol' 'Elly 'Anson. In fact, there are those who even opined that the old HH logo was named after us.

Yours in Christ,
H.
edit: typos, naturally.

/\ Penny Lane, no?
had a bad time with the old folded poncho from the hardware store last week at an outdoor sporting event, I'm right off them and might try an HH, got to get moving on that .....
Have you thought of a hunting jacket...? Ideally one that looks like an old butchers apron to get that vintage kudos
/\ Higgins'd!
I came to realize last week at the game, when it started to pour with about one second's notice, that there is no good solution to the dilemma posed by very hot weather and high humidity plus frequent drenchings and a no-umbrella rule ...
only after I had gotten thoroughly rained on did I finally manage to get my poncho on and find my baseball hat where I'd dropped it in a pile of peanut shells and mustard ... I wiped off my glasses to see that the stands were empty and nobody was actually trying to watch the game except for a few dipshits ....
but then I had to rip the poncho off because I was starting to steam, and told my friend we should go get another beer and get out of the rain, but as soon as we started to move the rain stopped and everything dried off ... didn't take too long but I had still played it all wrong ...
luckily there were no cute women or sarcastic kids around to witness this episode and when the football skanks I was flirting with came back to their seats I resumed pretending I didn't see them looking at me when I was pretending to not be looking at them, acting cool. my friend was laughing though at this comedy of errors but he had brought his Columbia shell, gambled and left it in the car, and was standing there in a puddle with an $8 beer so he was a dumbass too.
even though that poncho was junk I'm going to waste another $5 on yet another one that I know with 100% certainty I will destroy as I try to pull it over my head ....
