The son looks like he'd be a total asshole.  Like the kind of guy that would throw his Styrofoam coffee cup out the window of his car.

Re: On Taste...

you know what .. if my career goes completely down the Khazi (I'm half way down anyway), I'm going to do what that Japanese guy did with that Ivy League book and take a camera round all these 'celebrated' venues in the UK a collate images for a coffee table book ... Kensington, The City, Clerkenwell legal chambers etc & call it 'British Style Uncovered' .. I wont put pictures on the front as that would give the game away, but Id show all these crazy Yanks, Asians what real brits dress like nowadays. Once they take the red pill some of them may well question why they have wasted countless hours trying to emulate the mirage of English style ... it could lead to a LOT of tears at bedtime.

Re: On Taste...

Re. FNB "why does everyone else have to be well dressed for you to be? Isnt that reward enough?" Bingo! Making an informed attempt at being well dressed should be the last checkpoint of a balanced cogent man as he ventures out of his (presumably sane) home into the confused world outside.

Re. NJS "Wren's churches are wonderful and so are the work of Gainsborough, Reynolds, Turner, Whistler, Stubbs" IMHO Turner doesn't fit with the rest of your grouping. He was totally different in inspiration, technique and execution.
I may be stupid and ignorant in art matters, but I group him more with Bacon as both Rebels who ended up being icons of the establishment. The difference being Turner ended up being the ethereal angel, Bacon the unsettling devil. The more I spend time with a Turner with his depictions of war, implied death and destruction, victory and defeat, the more hopeful I become. Edified, if you will. I could live with a Turner in my living room. A Bacon is the evil twin. Initially attractive in a formal way it inexorably brings up everything that is dark and hopeless. I still like to look at and am fascinated by Bacons, but it's like looking at an accident scene. Humanity as a failure.

Re: On Taste...

Some people just hate getting dressed.  I work with some of them.  You know, the people that just dread wearing a tie, probably only own 1 poor fitting suit that sees use once every 3 years?  If there's a trip or meeting they may ask "Will I have to dress up?"  I actually dress better out of work than I do at work.

Re: On Taste...

I have a friend that became very interested in clothes for a time.  He'd ask me about a shirt or pants, and I'd let him know about the article in question.  He was dressing quite nice for about a year, wearing some wool pants and decent shirts, he bought some nice venetians.  Now he looks like a complete slob and wears a rotation of maybe 2 pairs of pants and 3 shirts.  His hair is unkempt and he goes without shaving for weeks.  Not sure what happened.  His outward appearance is that he truly doesn't give a crap.  He did get into a steady relationship, so maybe that's the problem.  He doesn't seem depressed or anything.  He's a fickle one in many aspects of life though.
