David Halberstam reporting for the New York Times in the early 60s would have fit right in with the Tech/IBM ivy style.

Indeed.   

I drove through Tech campus this morning and tried to superimpose some of the scenes from this thread.   The campus is far more developed, yet many of the buildings seen in this thread are still there and in use.
