Then again in the 1990s Levi's were selling so-called Sta-Prest that were actually like jeans with a crease. I can't remember if they had that fifth pocket but otherwise they were just like jeans. Some of you might remember the Flat Eric campaign.

Sta-Prest, in my opinion, need that poly-cotton fabric in order to stay pressed. IIRC it was a patent by Koratron. Moose will know.

I can say, that with a 6.5 hem on the 30 waist, those things would be real tight around my ankles.

Levi's Sta-Prest came in twill, needlecord, hopsack and bedford cord, all polyester cotton blends, of course.

Probably similar with the Lee version. There were lots of other companies selling similar styles with a permanent crease.

The cut of the front pockets varied from on-seam to slanted, jeans style to horizontal or frogmouth.

Most of them were uncuffed, but I've also got a pair with cuffs, Farah press I think.

Colors were stone, cream, ice blue, tan, olive, medium brown, dark brown, airforce blue, navy blue, charcoal grey and black. Light colors were most popular I believe.

I'm not sure if they were originally based on chinos. I think their forerunners were some other sort of cotton slacks, as chinos were not necessarily worn with a crease.

With Size 14 feet and thighs like a kangaroo tapering is well and truly out.

There were a few styles in the range of Leesure's, it was used as the 'brand' name for their 'non-denim' casual trousers.
The range was similar to the Levi's of the same period (Continentals I and II, Slims, Spikes etc).
