This Mod/modernist/JS debate really does not interest me at all.
My view is that this is a forum dedicated to classic American menswear.
The clothes of the American east coast elite, conservative by definition.
Does John Simon s,the London modernist scene, the crew who are responsible
for the trailer (wank fest), really have much to do with that?
Maybe as a minor footnote and that's probably overstating their importance.

I agree though that we've had enough of the youth cult topics. This stuff, however, goes beyond youth culture.
To be conscious of the fact that one is 'conservative' culturally anyway, is, I think, really a modernist stance? As Ernest Gellner once sais about 'traditional' crafts, music etc. etc. "If you are aware you are conserving a tradition, you aren't"
If any of you can get this; I am not sure you can from the UK http://whyy.org/cms/radiotimes/
It is the public radio station fro Philadelphia and region; tommorrow it has an hour on the topic of whether Americans now dress too casually, might be some interesting points made. They usually have very interesting guests.
Spot on Russell Street by another name; though it is the same name, really!?
