LEVIS!

Sure this subject has been been brought up before but here goes:

On the hunt for the right pair of jeans and got around to trying on the much fabled 'Ivy' Levi's (LVC 505 1967) which many members on this board recommend for the slim cut and supposed high-rise. To my surprise when I did get them on, they were incredibly low-rise and unbearably tight around the private parts. On inspecting the LVC website it even mentions the fact that these have a 'lower rise than the traditional 501'!!? Check the link...

http://levisvintageclothing.com/product/1967-505-jeans/

Have they suddenly changed the fit or am I missing something here?

Any advice would be thoroughly appreciated!

HM

Re: LEVIS!

They are lower than the 501 by about .5" in the back, but they still have good rise on mine at least. I'm actually wearing them now.

Re: LEVIS!

Who knows? But did you try to size up? It sounds like those may have been too small. I size up on all my LVC jeans and the rise goes up with the size.

Re: LEVIS!

They actually tried to make me size DOWN due to the fact they would expand with wear! Now that would have been seriously tight!

Re: LEVIS!

I own a pair and love them but more often wear my LEE 101Z because of the higher rise. I recommend checking them out. I think there are variations in wash and weight, so be careful if ordering online. I think mine are 14oz raw Kaihara denim with left-hand twilland a horsehair patch. They're similar in leg width to the 1967 505.

Re: LEVIS!

I haven't bought any 505s in a few years years but a cack fit these days wouldn't surprise me... LVC seem to have lost it a tad..
Heartily agree wirth SS2.0 - size up H size up...

I much prefer the USA made 505s of the noughties too - would swear they're a slightly bigger cut/rise all round and better zip?!?

I also at the end of the day prefer all the older cinch 501 models of course so rise is spectacular on all of them though the cut wouldn't please most on here...
A bit like a white t shirt jeans, eh?
Plenty knocking about but getting some to please......?

Re: LEVIS!

I recently tried some LVC items on prior to buying, and I'm glad I did. Though the 505's seemed true to size the 519 Bedford cords seemed much smaller. A size up in the 519's was about right for me.

Re: LEVIS!

The cut on the newer 505 is a tighter in the thigh and knee, doesn't look good at all.

The Lee 101Z looks decent enough, tried on a pair at Son of a Stag Brick Lane, not too tight with a 7.5ish leg opening.

If ever on sale/reduction the LVC 1954 new rinse are worth a try.
