Seriously, it's interesting that even then there were people banging on about 'wearing clothes in the wrong country'. The arguement doesn't really hold water any more does it?

The future lies with the man who first eases himself into suede trousers or pulls on his first pair of tweed shoes.

The time-lag in fashion between London and the provinces used to be three years. Now it is down to three months!

Love it. Great stuff Wooley

Yeah, what's the beef with "Biff"? I have no beef with Biff.

Seriously, I don't see any cultural baggage in regards to "Biff'" or "Chip'".

Just to add, by liking the clothes on that Japanese guy, I might finally also overcome some of my own misconceptions or prejudices regarding preppy style. So more power to Chip, Trip, Skip and Hiroto!

Skip - so called because he looked like he dressed out of one.

I have a beef with Biff. I hope McFly whips his ass.

I think Biff was a Donkeys ass, all that promise as an athlete in high school wasted,  flunking senior-year math and never bothering with college.
What about him stealing that fountain pen too?  what a dick. Of course ultimately i blame his father, Biff just wanted to go out West and be a farmhand

Re: Men's New Passion for Fashion, The Observer, 10 March 1963

A lot of the negative connotation with preppy style, I think, comes from pop culture portrayal, and not experience outside of fiction.

I have no beef with anyone, but preps are at least to a large degree authentic. And the world is demanding more and more authenticity these days, while delivering less and less (artisan sandwiches! cheeses!). Across the "river" lies a neighborhood filled with young, privileged white kids dressed in blue collar attire. They are keeping it real.

I have no beef with them. But mocking them is fun.
