Re: Tropical ivy

At JFK right now. Have to make an emergency five-day trip to Puerto Rico. Will be staying in a Condado beach front resort with a strong "Dr. No" vibe, if you know what I mean.

Packed my Filson large carry-on bag and my Filson Sportman bag. Both are nicely faded in classic otter-green.

Their contents are:
Filson otter-green Dopp Kit with all the necessities (Kent foldable combs, Royal Lyme, etc...)
Ghurka travel tray. An often overlooked but essential travel must-have.

Shirts
Gant long sleeve blue oxford popover
J Press pink ocbd
Gant light yellow long sleeve madras shirt (wearing it)
J Press Reyn Spooner long sleeve button down (a light green/ecru beauty bought for $18 on the last day of the NYC flagship).
Two Hanes undershirts
Navy polo

Trousers
J Press chinos w cuffs
J Press light grey dress trousers w cuffs
LVC Levi's 1966 (wearing them)
Five underpants + four pairs of socks.
Shoes
Alden Modified Last longwings pebble grain (wearing them)
Alden. Brooks Brothers unlined LHS cordovan
Alden unlined snuff suede LHS
Leatherman navy/green surcincle belt

Also Puma track-suit pants and new balance running shoes for daily exercise/jogging

Sunglasses
Randolph aviators dark lenses
Persol 714 foldable polarized brown lenses
Automatic Omega Seamaster

Richard Burton diaries  (light reading).
Umoja Village: a social studies book regarding social injustice and gentrification in a 2007 Miami shanty town (heavy shit reading).
Free and Easy magazine, the "Dad Style" issue (no reading whatsoever).

I know where all the surf-shops are located - will buy a swimsuit or a pair of cheap bermuda shorts, for morning swims.

I''m also wearing a classic fit natural Baracuta G9 for the NYC spring weather that will await upon my return.

I'm great at packing and the carry on bags are light and comfortable. The loafers are unlined and pack well. The four shirts and three trousers hardly take any space. My macbook air and ipad and the running shoes take up the most space.

If i have time, I'll take some pictures so we can move the thread into the present-day of the tropical Ivy world.

That sounds like unsurpassed goodness Señor.  Pics please.  I probably would have added a blazer to the mix, and then end up not wearing it.

Re: Tropical ivy

The easiest would be the following:

Stan and me are based in Miami Beach.  Let us know when you visit Miami and we'll arrange a visit to the Mai Kai and a tour of the Fontainebleau...

Doggie pick me up on your way down.  My good friend is in Miami right now.  Sent me a lovely shot looking off from Sandspur Island this morning to make me jealous.

Re: Tropical ivy

This was actually the first winter I didn't have multiple stops in Miami. The winter sailing circuit has been de rigeur for the past decade, but we took a break this time. I'm sure next year it will be back in full swing, though another thing I'd like to do is get the power boat down and blast over to the Exumas for a couple days.

Re: Tropical ivy

Tropical Meet-Up yeah!  Come on down all of you and get a good sunburn!  Yuca: bring your bongos.  WM is in the engine room when he's not in the brig.  Thee Captain is the captain and will dance the hornpipe.  Both of them will also act as disc jockeys of the pirate radio station we're setting up.  Dogs is the admiral and is also in charge of all dealings with swimming pigs.  I of course will be preparing the libations and the conch salad and ceviche and will handle all provisioning including the dispensing of grog.  Servo is the Roving Ambassador!  Chevere is ship's surgeon and will be assisted by the Shooman whose main brief will be to treat snake and spider bites and jellyfish stings.  Under no circumstances however must he be allowed in the galley.  Woofs will be manning the new ship-mounted laser cannon!  Oliver will barter with the natives for choice fabrics!  Armchaired and Bop are the amphibious assault team.  Patrick will catch fish and smoke his pipe.  Acton_Baby is in charge of electronics and the machine that goes ping!  Leer will play the Neapolitan mandolin and set up a school on shore.  Sancho Panza is in the crow's nest.  Everybody else consider yourselves shanghaied and otherwise conscripted .....

Come on down for a pleasure cruise. Plenty of women, plenty of booze.

And maybe if we wait another 8 years, YoungIvy will be of sufficient age to join us.

We may need to put a few locks on her cabin, for her own protection.
