I found Capote a bit tedious. And that's being charitable. Possibly worth a watch, but I will be redonating my copy. The clothes were disappointing too - I don't think I've ever seen a period film where the quality of the clothing isn't in direct proportion to the quality of the film as a whole. Lots of nice overcoats and hats, and some of the suits may have been decent. But not a single BD or 3-2 roll in the entire film - these jokers need to do their homework.
And writing a few bestsellers does not make someone a genius. In Cold Blood is a good book, and could possibly inspire a writing of type film, but treating it as being the 20th century equivalent of Hamlet or something is a joke. I would like to watch Infamous just to see if they did a better job.
Give it a decade or 2 and perhaps we'll have Brown, a film about the writing of the Da Vinci Code.

I agree with Yuca the acting is so over the top from the lead, at first I thought this was to match capote eccentricity, but soon you realise even the bit parts and extras have an expression of wtf on their faces. Its too much its like a player hogging the ball. It just doesn't work imo

I dont know I don't think he showed the fragility of Capote. Was everyone on the board at the Academy Capote's Biographer? Did they have such depth of knowledge? It was some over acted shit by a mime artist at best. And again I agree with Yuca the actress playing Harper Lee was the best thing in it. Im not saying my opinion any greater weight than the next chump. But fuck me that was such a consciously composed attempt it failed to work. Imo

Id say its the acting. He seems bullish and wicked. I think PSH tainted Capote with his own character the actor in Infamous is truer to the Capote in his carriage. But I suppose when someone has to act the part of a well documented person there is always going to be short falls or over steppings. When I watch Capote I feel as though im watching someone act. Capote is not really how hoffman plays him. He might sound and look like him. Even get the mannerisms right. But I dont think he captures 'him'.

I didn't think much of Catch Me if You Can. In fact, it was another DVD I donated. I had read the book prior to watching. Even the book isn't that great, but it is worth a read, but I thought the film was just unbelievable, and the clothes looked dodgy to me. I can't recall any 3-2 rolls etc.
Anyone else want me to slate their favourite film? I've not seen Shrek or Toy Story, so I won't be able to help some of you.
