Anyone catch Teddy leaving the hospital after being diagnosed with malignant brain cancer?   Trooper that he is, he walked out weaing a dandy blue windowpane suit with a plaid shirt and did not neglect the pocket square.

I saw a picture. I wrote about his planned commencement at a small NE college. My gosh: I wish the great man well.

Re: Kennedy: "effortless American elegance"...

I have been told that the Vanity Fair article on Bobby Kennedy, in a recent issue, states that Bobby started wearing some of JFK's clothing after his death. So that should muddy the waters for those studying Kennedy style.

Re: Kennedy: "effortless American elegance"...

I have been reading a bio of Bobby. Many have cited JFK as being a style icon, but in reality, his look evolved to a more Savile Row, which was influenced by Jackie, while in office. I argue that the true Ivy/ New England cornerstone for the original look, was Bobby, who was called a "Brooks Brothers beatnik" for his style choices, and the fact that he still wore his rumpled Brooks buttondowns while Attorney General.

Discuss.

I think the entire North Eastern set always loved Savile Row suits and English ties, shoes and shirts. I think the love for the suits got stronger the more "Gotham" you were and less so the more Marthas Vineyard you were.
