A thing of patricians?

I'm puzzled that barely nine of these "WASP "patricians in 30s,40sand early 50s wear Ivy.
A myth busted?

Re: A thing of patricians?

P.S.
I mean Ivy League clothes; camel overcoats or shots are shared clothes.
Real Ivy  seems appear only by late 50s.

Re: A thing of patricians?

You need your Social Register for this set of photos ... many of these shots predate '54-'66 Ivy in any event ... these people were already socially on top of their world in their '30s and '40s double-breasted garb .....

with respect to the shots taken in the most relevant years, some of the men in these shots are into the bespoke look but I see some Ivy anyway, as in the shot of Vincent C. Banker and C. Henry Buhl from 1959  ... can't tell how Ivy lots of these guys were when you're just looking at them in their tuxedos .....

... but the children and grandchildren of some of the people in these shots most certainly wore lots of Ivy and classic prep well into the '80s, I know that for a fact  .....

Re: A thing of patricians?

/\ by 1948 buttondown collar shirts and straight undarted natural shoulder suits were being worn extensively on campus but that didn't mean the styles from earlier in the decade had completely disappeared ....... nearly all of the Ivy pieces were in place by 1948 and the style was taking off ....

Cool pictures. Prince Edward and his wife are there as well. I would venture to say most of these people belonged to the "international Jet Set crowd".
