Loved the discos, the music and the clothes. 70's perfection!!! I was underage back then, but my family run discos and l used to get in. I remember some bird undoing my zip and giving me a feel too....met her about 30 years later.

Nothing gives me more joy than the 1970's with the daggy music and clothes and people and awesome cars and more simple life.  You can't get the 70's out of this boy.

The music is typical 70's t.v theme music...all serious. LOVE the big yank tanks too...always loved that shit the best. Been a massive fan of yank tanks since l was a boy and have always wanted one, the bigger, the better!

btw, the lead trumpet sounds a bit flat on the higher notes.

The old t.v show music was often awesome.

The bikes are definitely hoss. And that trumpet is really striving for that note. You can hear the power in the player's blow, which I like. It ain't perfect, but he's just blasting!

That trumpet player isn't even 10% on the lendary Maurice Murphy. Mauraice had the style the sound and the f**ken power like few others. Pure strength and no blasting. Everything he played was effortless. He was considered by many to be the greaytest trumpet player of all time and he played in all the big Hollywood films like Stars wars, Superman, Indiana Jones etc, as did the legendary Denis Wick (old iron chops) on trombone and ole Fletch on tuba with some of the cleanest tuba playing you will ever hear ever.

Here's Maurice absolutely killing it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7k5x6PDnnM

Sure those great American trumpet players are awesome, but Maurice was the king. Also, the trumpet player in the Chips soundtrack didn't use his crescendos as effectively as he could have (not so easy to do..it is an artform).

Re: The wasn't disco crap thread .

I wasn't implying the guy was approaching Maurice Murphy, but just that I like the imperfection.  The Star Wars theme is a great piece of brass arranging and Maurice nails it.

Of course. I was just saying.

Maurice nails it to a level that would be very hard to imitate.

As for me, I prefer to listen to perfection. smile When l hear less than perfection l am always like "ah bugger, you stuffed up there, why did you do that for" etc.

Regardless of how great Maurice was, no-one can do the jazz like the American trumpet players. But when it comes to all round playing (clean playing, ability to play a melody, strength and solidness all throughout the range etc), the English seem to have it licked. You listen to a highly aclaimed tuba player like Roger Bobo and it makes you cringe and embarrassed for him because his playing is not clean, but you listen to Fletch and his tuba playing is the cleanest you will ever hear....flawless technique, heaps of style, great sound and super dooper clean.  Apparently all the orchestral tuba players hated Fletch because he was from a brass band background (looked down upon in the orchestral world) and all the other tuba guys went to fancy colleges for players in the orchestral world, yet none of these highly regarded players could touch Fletch.

Then we have the highly regarded piano player called Lang Lang. People jump on the bandwagon and rave about that guy, but l think he is crap....NO musical feel. I wouldn't pay to listen to him. It is like most worldclass musos...no musical feel from the top draw. It is all about the feel for me...to buggery with technique. Very few musos are perfection.

Now that's something a bit special, not heard this for decades.
Those low end 'peww' noises are the business, not a 'syndrum' in this case - you make them by feeding a tape echo back to itself and tweaking the eq and tape speed on the output at the same time ( it's how you get the note wobble/modulation thing going on). A bit of a lost art in the weird fx/dub noise armoury.
