Margaret Howell has a few very nice looking unstructured jackets at the moment, some with matching trousers as well. She used to wholesale shirts to Lipschitz, you know...
Polo RL does a great sack linen jacket this season with a belted, unvented back. Very 1930s, great fit. Better than Keydge...
Last Sunday I bought a cotton jacket in the RL outlet.
*Three patch pockets (two flapped)
* 3/2 roll
* Undarted
* It is on the slimmer side, but not skinny and short-ish
* High armholes
* More buttons on the sleeve than you ever need.
* Unlined, except for the vent and the sleeves. I really consider the lined sleeves a plus, because the unlined sleeves of an Keydge are annoying.
Overall very well made and a great jacket. Only downer for me is that I need to have the sleeves shortened.
Aye, the wooly Keydges, mine are starting to look worn.
I thought that too, but figured I must be wrong.
For godsake you're a successful and educated man Hep. Don't let standards slip.
This is good news that there are some undarted ones floating about my only concern is from the description on fit. I hope its not that custom fit they do
Kleydges, sorry.
Wooly and woolly are both correct I believe. One of our Welsh members may be able to clarify.
The wool Keydges never really tempted me, they surely lose a few of the advantages of the cotton and linen ones?
Here at least there is a viable (albeit ventless and missing inside pockets) alternative available in the Pendleton Topsman.
30% off at the Keydge website at the mo kids...

Nice! Still hankering after a Cruz DB, but that's still a fairly expensive proposition even on their 'outlet' jackets.
I am not sure about my RL, but I suspect it is the dreaded "custom fit".
The Keydge discount is quite early. I was thinking about the navy bedford model earlier this year, but it doesn't show anymore.
Good opportunity, but my money has gone already. Im settled for this year. This morning I found a shirt in my closet which I completely had forgotten about. IA warning signal.
A loss indeed.
By the way, I seem to remember reading (on here?) that the Keydge's come up big and to buy a size down from normal - or have I just imagined that?
For the current ones it seems to be the other way around - it is better to size up.
The older ones (J*Keydge) are more true to size.
That must have come from a keydge playa hater Sid...
I think most people go up don't they?
I'm a 54/44 in them..but have other 44 jackets too so hard to call for me tbh.....so guess...best bet is to try before you buy if poss?
They fit fairly small and shortish, I was fine with Euro 48 where I would normally wear 46 or even 44. You probably don't want them to be skin tight anyway, nice to be able to wear over a sweater. If not and you do prefer a very trim fit I can't imagine your nominal size would be a mistake.
