Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

Could be about right, the fashion was often for a looser and longer jacket in the 60s at least.

US sack jackets in 38" are always too large for me though, whereas 36 or 37 fit.

I'm not convinced a Keydge needs to fit as trim as other tailored clothing though.
I did need to shorten the cuffs on all of mine by 3/4" of an inch, a quick fix that even improves the placement of the buttons.

The cotton ones do also shrink a little - like jeans - after a wash, something to remember.

Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

Things can go a bit ary with measuring..for instance my wash n wear brooks (now in the hands of AC)measured smaller than the keydge but actually fitted looser because the arm hole were lower than the keeeeydge. It all gets very confusing

Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

And just to add to my confusion this seller on the Bay has one listed at the moment as 52/38!?

My hatred of different sizings worldwide continues.
What does the European 52 actually relate to? 52 whats?
At least the US/UK 40 is close to an actual inch measurement, sort of...

Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

The Euro '52' means - or should mean at least - 52 cm from pit to pit, which is 20.5 inches.

So if that's what's really on the tag, the normal Keydge sizing: tight fit for a 42 in. chest, about right for a 40".

Maybe it's best to go at least two sizes up, put the jacket in a dung-hill for a weekend (Do not forget to put garlic and a few hairs from you in each pocket). After that, take it out with your left foot and then wash it very hot. Avoid by all means to look at it before it is dry.

Just to get a repp..

Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

In two years of measuring people at the suit place only one person had achieved that. That was the most difficult suit we ever fitted.

36 chest with 40 waist. He was like a pear.

Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

TK Maxx have more RL undarted, unlined jackets in. I saw a 44 in a light  blue colour for £49 (clearance price £250 RRP). I also noticed 2 'styled in Italy' Woolrich jackets dark blue cotton with a slightly European darted look but centre vent and other details correct (£36 Clearance price). Shedloads of RL no logo shirts (£39) and a few BB shirts (£25 made in Malaysia). I didn't buy anything but I am curious that this kind of stuff is turning up in TK Maxx.

Re: Keydge vs Alternatives

Thanks, will have to take a look at our local.

I did see plenty unlined jackets in a couple of years ago, forget the make, almost all were pretty vile.

For half-lined casual sports jackets with a wee bit of padding, TK Maxx has always been pretty good. I have an Italian one I wore a lot for knocking about pre-Keydge.
