Interestingly I bought a pair of Original Playboys off IvyLeagueOfGentlemen on here, below are the 3 pairs I have in rotation.

L-R

Sanders Snuff - 4 years old and getting nicely bedded in

Trickers Snuff Mudguards (known as the round toe Sanders) - First pair bought also 4 years old and pretty much the perfect playboy of the current crop, unfortunately only available in Japan.

Original Playboy brown - from mid 80s made by Whites of Earls Barton, suppliers I believe to JS at the time, much chunkier like those in the original post, but shows they have been this way for a long time now.

Hi Tomiskinky,

Thanks for posting the pics. The Whites of Earls Barton Originals look great. The sole is not too thick and not too thin.

Hi Leer
I went to Citi Shoes today to double check on the price of the Sander Playboys, and to take a closer look at the low top model. I like the low top Sanders better than the Chukkas. The low tops were $269.99 and the chukkas were $299.99. Once tax is added to the chukkas the total is about $326.

My Original Playboys finally shipped today. I noticed a "FOREIGN FEE" of $9.09 that was charged to my card today once the shoes shipped bringing the total to $312.09

Hi Thee Captain,

The salesman at The Lester Store recommended that I order a UK size 11 which is a US size 12. Thanks for pointing that out just the same.

Thanks,
MaCK

I agree. Whether I buy the Sanders locally, or order the Originals from Sweden It's still expensive.

Retro Fan, I don't have any insight or experience with Playboys, but I just wanted to welcome you to the thread and say that I thoroughly enjoyed your reminiscence.

Re: Playboy Originals Made in Spain

I received the Playboys from The Lester Store located in Sweden. I like them a lot. They weighed in at nearly 1.75 pounds per shoe, but that doesn't bother me. They look and feel like a solid shoe. The crepe sole reminds me of the crepe soles on the playboys from the late 1960's and early 1970's. The cream colored bottom also reminds me of the ones that my friends use to wear. The thick crepe outer sole doesn't bother me at all. As you can see from the photos the color is a matte black with not much of a shine.

The only thing that I'm not happy about is the fact that they are at least 1/2 size too big, maybe a little bit more. To send them back to Sweden for an exchange is too costly. The shoes cost $15 to ship fedex economy to the USA, but Fedex quoted me approximately $170. to ship them back. The USPS is less, but still about $100. So I'll just suck it up and wear them with an extra pair of socks. I wear a US size 12. The Lester Store suggested a UK size 11, but they are too big. I'm not mad because the UK to US shoe size conversion isn't an exact science. Next time I will order a UK 10.5.  I don't plan on wearing them until the fall, so I will be putting them on ice for the summer. Below are a few pics. They're not the best pics

Re: Playboy Originals Made in Spain

Just in case anyone wants to know the thickness of the sole, it is approximately 1-1/8" in the front, 1-1/4" on the sides. and the heel is 1-5/8.

Hi Captain,

Thanks I will enjoy them. The sizing shouldn't be an issue for you, because you are in the UK.
Just remember, they are quite heavy, but like I said earlier, that doesn't bother me.

Re: Playboy Originals Made in Spain

This thread has rattled my interest in the made in Spain PB's..

Does anyone know anything more about the factory in Spain? I've been trying to find out exactly where they are made here, but I'm not having much success.

Being an expat in Spain, I'd like to pop along to see if there's any deals to be had?

You scratch my back, and I'll send you a pair of PB's if there's any to be had (wink)

I agree. It's doubtful. I contacted Fabian with a few basic pre-sale questions and didn't find them helpful at all. Once I contacted them with a sizing question and they didn't give me an answer. I doubt very seriously that they would reveal their sources.

Re: Playboy Originals Made in Spain

I'd like to know some of the origins of PBs being made in Spain?

Has there always been a history of this, or is it a fairly recent partnership?

I just assumed the UK was their Graceland... A Ha Ha!

I recall they just changed the manufacturer maybe six or seven years ago. At that time I saw Made in England and Made in Spain PBs in the shelves. The shoes were identical though.

Re: Playboy Originals Made in Spain

Cheers! My name is Martin. I live in Sweden. I find it interesting to read that our Playboy shoes are loved elsewhere too. But sadly difficult to get hold of over there. Here in the northern countries it is Cold so we need a really thick sole, so please do not say they are too thick. They can never be too thick. Well, I admit I enjoy reading Your comments and Pictures of the chunky playboy chukkas. They look even better when they are used. Thanks Tominsky for showing your Brown Playboys with the really thick sole. These Pictures are almost like porn. Well this is actually why I send this question. Could You help me out?

I am not gay, but seeing other men in these shoes turns me on. I am not comfortable with this fact at all. I would like this obsession to pass. Because it is too queer... Since these shoes are almost common here I see them Walking around almost every day, on the bus, in the shop, on the streets, and they Always catches my Eye and disturb my thoughts. Some guys really show them too, so that it is impossible to miss them. Please, tell me what to do!!!

Would there be more gentlemen having the same problem??? That would make my day...

Ok. Most sincearely apologizing if this stuff was too inappropriate for the forum!

Re: Playboy Originals Made in Spain

Hello

I am new here and been searching for more info on the Swedish Playboy Huttons.

Anybody else bought a pair since this thread was last updated in 2015?

The Cognac ones look very nice and very Bullitt in colour!

Cheers
