Re: The Book Shelf

The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings is worth having. Not sure what edition mine is (5th?) but there's such a wealth of ideas and reading in there I've never felt pressed to pay through the nose for a newer edition.

Charles Schumann's 'American Bar' is a must. The English edition is beautifully bound and illustrated, and ridiculously cheap. As a bonus it contains seriously worthwhile cocktail recipes...

Mix a Schumann's Mai Tai and settle in with Hope/Tozian 'The Aloha Shirt: Spirit of the Islands' on a rainy night.
