So to recap:
*Loafers: for the office, semi formal and casual loafing - not for extended walking
*Bluchers: office, good for running errands and attending after work functions. - not ideal for heavy treks or walking through parks etc...
*ranger mocs, desert boots, boat shoes: good for beach, casual days around town.
*classic sneakers: daily walking but nothing requiring long periods of time standing. (vans, cvo's Incontinence pants)
Best shoes for standing and walking all day:
Modern sneakers: Mizuno etc...
Shoes: Wallabees, Paraboots, All Weather Walkers
Boots: red wings, Aldens and RM Williams
Personally I travel wearing my boots - as they take too much space in the luggage and they make it easier to walk through airports and new environments...
Feet problems are very common, especially as we age. Good shoes and knowing when to wear them is an art.

I'll stick my oar in and recommend RM Williams boots as well. Just remarkably comfortable as well as very adaptable. Can't recommend highly enough.
