Sal, for what it's worth, I didn't size down. You see how slim I am, and I think the fit is just fine. It's a traditional, billowy fit, but not too generous IMO. Not to confound you...
I should also add that earlier photo was PRE-wash and has shrunk up significantly since. It's a much better fit now. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
I think the fit works best with proper natural-waist pants. Well, life in general is better in proper natural-waist pants.
Surprised I missed this one. In the past three years, I have become a big devotee of Mercer shirts, presently have 20 of them, including a couple shown in the original post. For all the talk about ordering from them, I just like to telephone them and chat awhile with David Mercer. He's a most delightful fellow.
Some of their fabric names are sort of odd, I'll have to say. For instance, in their latest batch of swatches they mailed out they had a rather nice plaid called the "Jim Bridger." A tempting fabric, but I don't know what it has to do with Jim Bridger. I thought he only wore fringed buckskins.
Now that they are in Bozeman, I have to wonder if they will go native and start offering yoked, Western-style shirts with snaps instead of buttons, that sort of thing.
Thanks! You should have seen that night in the 90s.
Thanks everyone for the advice. Clearly aggressive sizing-down is not a good idea.
Thanks. However the music I play nowadays is of the Latin variety and I've foresworn mixing. So if I do a TI mix tape it will be heavy vintage mambo, Latin jazz, classic salsa and a bit of son, with no actual mixing. (The vid was only a couple of years ago but it was a reunion of a night that stopped in 97.)
One day i'll try a mercers, that looks cracking in the clip Yuca.
I think there is a sweet spot between massive billow and skin tight... the brooks makers 7 button is ok..the 6 is massive.
My fav is the Ll bean made in USA oxfords absolutely perfect cut in the body for me and no alpha sizing
I'm anxious to see, or at least hear about, the result of the collar turning.
Tell me about it. So many of my favourite tweed and tie combinations just don't work so well without a blue OCBD.
