Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

I had a pleasant constitutional last night as it goes taking in Jermyn St along the way…

Those C & J split toes I swear had different prices in the 2 windows… £420/405?!??!

Or maybe it’s these antiobiotic ear drops messin’ wiv my heeeed……?!?

Anyhoo – a nice shape on them for sure…luverly…

They do some other very nice looking brogues (not longwings) but looked a sturdy beast too… maybe the Pembroke having a quick online goosey goosey gander….

Tricker’s had some interesting cap toe brogues, but my faves were Church’s burgundy brogue Double Monks… which I can’t seem to see online…

There’s a few there…but don’t look the same?

Anyhoo – they woz well mighty…..absolute Brick Shithouses…..

BELTERS…

ALSO

Saw an interesting Bates “Bill Cap” too – again which I’m struggling to find online…..
New & Lingwood gloriously bonkers… as ever….

Still one of my fave spots in this damn fine city…

Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

If you do speak to the cobbler as a complete resole (freshly stiched new midsole AND rubber sole) isn't necessary... He just stripped down the white sole but left a bit (original mid sole and about the same amount from the white sole, the original mid sole is too thin for an 1136) and then glued on the lug sole. smile

I think they look much more like 'real' work boots now... the rubber sole should do better in winter, too...

Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

P.S. if he opts for a new mid sole ask for that rubber material that is used for hiking boots instead of leather... Very un-hipsterish, but far more flexible and long-lasting...
