Is there anything you absolutely hate about Ivy ?
There are plenty of items within the Ivy cannon that i couldn't see myself wearing for various reasons. Popovers, Madras jackets, Playboys to name a few. I admire them all but they are not for me.
But is there anything that you absolutely hate ? Anything that you wouldn't even dress your mother in laws Dachshunds in ?
Anything that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy ?
Its been well recorded that i loathe Print shirts, also Paisley anything, and Buffer Coats
I absolutely detest Buffer coats.
What about you ?
I like it all, just keep those waspy looking easter egg pastel colors and preppy 70s embroidered novelty puke away from me.
The fact that my hairline's too receding for an authentic Ivy cut.
I hate the Oliver got that Arrow Cum Laude sweater while I was at work.
due to my beer drenking habits my gut is too big for that slender ivy look. must do something about it.
there are some ivy items i wouldn't wear due to the fact that they would look rather odd on me. seersucker jackets / suits, popover, madras jackets, white bucks.
i quite don't like patch madras anywhere.
as for the spoiled brat of ivy, there are some preppy items i absolutely detest. GTH trousers, multi-colour deck shoes, pastel colour polo shirts (pastel yellow excluded though).

Here is a starter
Patch madras I loathe, but I consider that more a preppie thing.
Duffle coats.
^^ HaHa damn right boys ,i don't like patch madras or duffel coats either.
I also don't like slim fits or poly cotton mix shirts ,its got to be 100% cotton, billowy and must iron for me.
I wear my patch madras jacket as a novelty item but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a quieter madras jacket. Other patch madras (shorts, shirt) I don't mind. I've never seen patch madras trousers and I don't think I ever want to.
I don't, however, like saddle shoes. They're not really commonplace Ivy like bucks are, maybe more in line with the "Gatsby" style. But that's the closest thing to something I hate clothing-wise about the style.
I don't like the sociological history of Ivy League style. The irony that elements of the style are a result of lazy college students taking poor care of the clothes they were expected to wear (especially the older end of the Ivy era, when jackets and ties were worn to class). These kids are wearing sport coats and suits like they'd much rather be in a tee shirt. I love casual Ivy style but I feel like we're behaving contrary to how Golden Age Ivyists behaved because we're wearing the same clothes but in the context of today's world, we're dressing up rather than down.
Does that make sense? I'm really tired.
Damn, got to get rid of my BB poly shirt AND my duffle...
White bucks.
And Polyester shirts while we're at it, make me sweat like a priest in a playground.
I like that we're twisting the original intention of these clothes. And Duffle coats.
My, you ARE sensitive.
I've sold almost all of my poly astronaut blends too. I have a 5 or 6 Makers in interesting colors and patterns that I love and will wear with a t-shirt underneath but my rule of thumb is to only buy 100% cotton.

Haha. That was aimed at AC, but you slipped your post in before my response. To make clear, AC is the sensitive little doll that let Poly walk all over him, not you Tommy. She told me your were a real man and that she still respects you.
You have to be firm.
Surcingle belts and boat shoes.
Patch madras anything- blerk! And I really don't like the look of 3 to 2 roll coats, either go 3 button or 2 for me.
Patch madras, yecch.
And tasseled loafers. To me, that is the mark of the True Wanker.
