Any ivy shoes in black. The whole point of such shoes is that they are relaxed, so getting them in black just doesn't work.
Obviously formal black shoes with an ivy suit works perfectly.
I don't like patch madras anything. Looking at it gives me a headache.
I hate people that start threads with titles like 'Is there anything you absolutely hate about Ivy '.
Its also been well recorded on here that I detest Paisley anything and prints in all things.
Wallabees
For anyone keeping score at home... patch madras leads with 7 votes against, followed closely by tasseled and kiltie loafers with 6 each... Many other have five or four votes... bow ties, white keds, duffle coats...
It seems like the trend is votes against flashy or costume-y items, or things that make you seem like you're trying too hard...
I have to say at the risk of getting a loud ____ ___ from Stan that I wear white Keds with pride, they're dirty though...

stanshall, please post a pic wearing your patch madras so I can feel the hate race through my veins.
As BB says, it's about having fun. I happen to like a mix of things. I guess my closet is mainly Ivy or Ivy-like but I like other influences, including word t-shirts of the 50s surfer kind, big striped t-shirts, and old school suede sneakers. Birdwell trunks, of course, which I like wearing to lounge around the house, walk to work, even run errands in the hot weather.
Some prep influences, too--rugby shirts, for one.
Variety is the spice.

/\ I don't have any patch madras at the moment ... waiting for the right thing, pickings are currently slim, there's a shirt from O'Connell's but seriously it's not really a priority ....
unlike Sneaker Quest '16 which while consuming my very being has yielded three pairs of the best so far as the saga continues ....
the knowledge that some folks detest sneakers just fuels the fire of the imp of the perverse .....
Speaking of which, my green suede Pumas arrived. They're good but I seem to remember the suede feeling a little more substantial with the pair I wore in the '90s.
/\ not really surprised, but as long as they're good they're good enough for today ... enjoy them! don't let Woofy see the green sneakers though, that would be like waving a paisley flag in front of Armchaired or taunting Yuca with black shoes ...
Ha. Yeah. I'll keep that in mind. I do like them. Nice green with a navy stripe.
As with my other sneaks, the Pumas are mainly for jeans (blue or white) and knock-around khakis like my slimmer J. Crew.
I don't mind a plain black T at all. Funnily enough they seem to stand up to wear better than plain white.
I hate everything and everyone.
I hope that doesn't come across as negative in any way.
