Hey All-
I am off to work and don't have time to search the thread history here right now-- so forgive me if this is something that has been gone over extensively…"346", "Black Script Label", "Country Club label"--- all poor quality? Differences? Like 'em? For Linen shirts too? Thanks in advance...
Recent 346 is of slightly lesser quality than current mainline stuff. Some things are better than others- ties, for example, are still great quality in my opinion. Overall, unless one is unhappy with the quality of the mainline stuff, the 346 stuff is fine because I don't think it's that big of a drop in quality. Of course it also depends which main line you're talking about because (somewhat) obviously the Golden Fleece line is farther away in quality from 346 than say, Red Fleece, which is among the lower quality stuff in the mainline Brooks catalogue.
Vintage 346, on the other hand, is probably better than most of today's main line. I've got an old 346 sack suit that's made in USA and it's at least half canvassed. You should have no worries about vintage 346 anything, as far as I'm aware.
I don't have a whole lot of experience with the Country Club label, but I have a pair of khakis with that label and they are far and away the best pants I own in terms of both fit and quality. I believe that line therefore to be among the higher end of quality from Brooks.
I'm not sure what the black script label is.
Thanks, Joey. That's helpful. I usually stay away from anything out of the "346" line…but perhaps I'll look more closely to see if it's vintage…I didn't know "346 went back that far. And thanks to everyone else who answered. Oh. Wait. Never mind.
I've got an early/mid 60's '346' 3-piece, and it's excellent quality - truly top-notch. it's coll as fark, too.
