Re: The OCBD of your dreams

So... No problem, Yuca. You see, mostly non boom era shirts have that large collar. The boom years shirts seem to be around 3". Evidence enough? winkwinkwink

(I don't give a fuck about that as long as the roll is good. I would like to have a Fitz without collar buttons to be worn with a needle, though- should look majestic. smile)

Re: The OCBD of your dreams

My white shirt was always like that, and it was NOS. Never washed before... But of course, shrinkage can happen, especially on an OCBD smile

You are a good teacher, Yuca. You immediately get to something different - something that has to do with discipline or behaviour. I do that, too - in class wink (here not so often wink)

Re: The OCBD of your dreams

To get back on topic. I think my dream OCBD has the cloth, cut and details of the Fitz, but with a more "Brooksian" collar - but with the back button. Can be the Fitz collar, too - but with slightly different placed buttons then. This for dress shirts... The more sporty OCBD of my dreams is more or less my Black Fleece OCBD I have from Zach. Modern, but perfect.

Re: The OCBD of your dreams

Maybe off-topic; but how are Mercer shirts? The same league as Fitz?

Re: The OCBD of your dreams

Very similar to old school Brooks - but not quite as good. Now I've got so many Brooks Makers shirts from the time machine I don't bother so much with Mercers, but I still wear them regularly, and when I first got into that style of shirt Mercers were invaluable.

Re. my ideal ocbd: Brooks Makers. I may have mentioned that before. But I find Oxford too hot for a lot of the year anyway - is that ivy sacrilege?

Re: The OCBD of your dreams

Excellent point up there Farrago, about the button placement.  Those NOS Gants I found recently have voluminous rolls.  It's like my head is blooming out of a dang tulip or something.  I should measure those points.

Re: The OCBD of your dreams

yup, like that Eagle tab collar, but too big for me.

This 80s one looks like it could be a nice shirt.
