Dragnet

The old black and white Dragnet series are full of 1950s Ivy fashion.  Jack Webb as Sergeant later Lieutenant Joe Friday is the epitome of the 'Ivy Style'.

Re: Dragnet

Yeah. You're right about that.  That show was probably one of my earliest exposures to cold, hard Ivy.

Re: Dragnet

^ Is that the one with the kid with the painted face who took acid and thought he was a flower? I think he gets his head stuck in the ground and suffocates.

I have a set of Dragnet '67 DVDs somewhere. Great stuff.

Re: Dragnet

Jack Webb's first partner in the TV series was the actor Ben Alexander, who played Sgt. Frank Smith. His son went to my prep school. We are still extremely cordial friends to this day.

Re: Dragnet

Ever seen the Seinfeld with the library book he hasn't returned since high school? The "library detective" tracks him down and he's a hard-boiled Dragnet style cop - they get the lingo down to a T. It's all "I suppose you think you're pretty funny son, all hopped up and whacked out, laughing at the straights in the Library service....." etc. I'll try and find a clip.

A justified high coil rating, Patrick. I love library sales.
