Split Toes

Sounds like a painful foot condition, not a shoe type,  but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated thread to split toes- particularly the Norwegian kind.  Picked up a lovely pair of Johnston n Murphys for £30 today.  I'll get some pictures in here soon but I'd like to see some discussion on the shoes as a style and the different examples?

Re: Split Toes

A very versatile shoe. I have several: Aldens in medium brown and black; Footjoys in tan and brown; Allen Edmonds in pebble grain light brown.

The Aldens are a little pointier than the others, which makes them look a little dressier in my opinion. We're talking about millimeters here, though. I'm not prancing around in Arabian Nights slippers or anything. Besides, my hookah is clogged.

Re: Split Toes

Probably the most versatile shoe. I have two on the Austro-Hungarian tradition, the red pebble grains most of you know and some lately bought used older Vass Norweger in black... Extremely versatile. Pair them with a suit in the morning and with Jeans in the evening. Next day with Blazer and Flannels...

A few nice ones in this thread:

http://TheScene.xobor.de/t256f5-Split-Toe-Gibsons-und-Norwegians.html

It's in German, and not all of those shoes are split toes or Norwegians...

Re: Split Toes

I will, Leer!

Btw, this thread seems to be more about ripple soles but on page 2 theres a little bit on shoe construction and Norwegian welts...

Not really empty but theres room for one or two messages now. Too many mails from shamrockorangutan and mails from myself with unfinished waffle...

Damn, I would send messages to myself on this forum. I bet Bop know them better than I do...

Re: Split Toes

We can see all of your private messages.  That's why I hate all of you with a passion.

Because I'm ignorant AND lazy at the moment (read busy at work but still wondering about split toe shoes on FNB), can someone briefly explain what distinguishes the "Norwegian" variety?

Re: Split Toes

I'd kill for some Color #8 shell cordovan Alden split toes. Are these considered less formal than longwings?
