'I used to buy all my shirts at Brooks, but that was completely ruined about 20 years ago. They discontinued the shirt I liked. If I had only known this—I mean, if you're going to discontinue an item that thousands and thousands of people buy, announce it. Say, 'We will no longer be making our excellent Brooks Brothers cotton shirts that we made for 5,000 years. We're going to change them in some awful way. We're alerting you so you can buy a lifetime supply.' Shirts don't go bad, they're not peaches.'
The rest is spot on too:

I'd not actually heard of her before, but whoever she is she has my respect.

This entire article is absolutely brilliant!!
The I.T. Police here wont let me open it... sounds most excellent mind...
That's a great article. I'm not very keen on her photography but her views in this article are spot on.
Sal - methinks you confuse her with Annie L.
Ah - you're quite right, I've confused the two. I recognise her from somewhere though but can't think where.
Isn't it the recently deceased girl's name Otter uses to dupe the sorority girls into going on a date to see Otis Day and the Nights in NL's Animal House ?
"Most people just aren't good looking enough to wear what they have on. They should change. They should get some slacks and a nice overcoat."
Haha. Great interview. And while I'm in accord on most everything, I'm not so sure I can get behind her scathing criticism of men in shorts. I mean, I'm not a huge fan myself, but dang... the lady really hates men in shorts. And what of the cowboy boots? OH GOD!!!
I hope someone at Brooks takes note, hell maybe they should just hire her
Personally, I don't think it's a flattering look for a woman. This coming from a complete sexist with severely outdated ideals of gender roles and feminine beauty.
What are you playing at Yuca? The woman wears cowboy boots!
That's why I said she's not my type.
She has come up with some great quotes though. My favourite (other than those in the article in the OP): I never met anyone who didn't have a very smart child. What happens to these children, you wonder, when they reach adulthood?
How do we get her to post on here?
Damn straight. If we were to have an ideal female member, it would surely be her.
I wonder if Chens will try contacting her for further comments re. her former ivy clothing habits. It could make a good article.

Why don't you reach out to her? You'd have good questions. It would be an excellent Talk Ivy exclusive. And you could persuade her to post here.
At the end of the day a forum is not really a place for journalism. An interview on IS (or another high profile site) would reach a far wider audience, which is what her memories and opinions deserve.
As for her posting here: most or possibly all pro writers avoid forums like the plague, as by posting they would be working for free.
Maybe if we all took a vow of secrecy.
Of course, she could already be one of us.
none of you read Andy Warhol's Interview magazine in the '70s or '80s? that's where she earned her spurs ......
