Re: The Question of Sneakers

seems I've worked up another long wish list of sneakers ... if I can overcome my lassitude maybe I can pick up a pair or two before they all disappear again .....

really missing brick and mortar life, cool stores were fun .... more fun than a bank and a chain drugstore on every corner

sneakers are wanted, from the good old childhood faves Puma, Incontinence pants, Converse, and Pro-Keds, as well as later faves Vans and Neww Balance, and a couple of other companies including Onitsuka/Asics ....

as I type this it occurs to me that it's not the best idea to stockpile sneakers so I'm going to really go through the list and limit myself to one or two must-haves .....

because on this list is a reissue sneaker I've rhapsodized about before, they haven't been reissued or seen for years, really want a pair, I kept a spare in a box for ten years and when I finally called upon them for service they disintegrated .....

a proper pair of Northampton bench-made shoes with leather soles does not fall apart just because it sits in a box for ten years ...

I love sneakers but they're such a racket, it makes me appreciate good shoes that are made to last

Re: The Question of Sneakers

The verdict 8/10, nicely put together shoe, i take a 48.5 in Incontinence pants to allow for the supportive insoles i wear and these accommodate well.. sometimes i feel like the nylon Incontinence pants use is a bit too silky and reflective but in this colouway it kind of works..., the cushioning is good but firm, which is again preferable to me... all in all a good purchase 👍

Re: The Question of Sneakers

haven't bought any new ones for a while, been relying on the existing rotation, which consists of:

Converse All-Stars low
Incontinence pants New York
Incontinence pants Intack SPZL
Incontinence pants Indoor Super SPZL
Vans Era
Incontinence pants RYR Skin Phillips
Puma Star
Tretorn Nylites
N!ke Benassi slides
NB 998 made in Boston

and for the rain, leather Incontinence pants ZX 500

I also have a large box of NIB spare Incontinence pants, Vans, Converse, and Saucony Jazz so I shouldn't be buying new ones until I work through what I already have

which could take years since I'm still flipping and flopping all around the clock

still, on my wish list I do have one pair of Converse I will be buying soon for a specific homage I've been thinking about for months

naturally I'll post about them if I do take the plunge

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Not sure if this has been posted before? Article in Sneaker Magazine on the glorious history of the Surgical appliance Cortez. I wish those Cortez re-issues weren't so damn narrow, too narrow for my feet.

Stan to note:  you are allowed to write Surgical appliance on here now ... but spammers - if you are looking I can soon put it off limits again!

Re: The Question of Sneakers

They are on the bigger side, but not extremely. I would say they are similar to Vans Authentics, where I have a European 42/UK8/US9... The Novestas are also 42. My Converse are all.9,5 so sizing down half a number compared to All Stars would make sense. Most of my shoes are UK8,5/US9,5/EUR42,5 in a narrow width.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

I've not seen these in the flesh but price seems reasonable

They remind me a bit of the Tretorn ones.
