Re: The Question of Sneakers

Haha no... but I know about marketing. And funnily enough there are no pics with bally canvas shoes that look like them 😉

What I know too is that they claim even that they supplied Sir Edmund Hillary's Mountain boots made out of reindeer leather. But they didn't... they were clearly not out of reindeer leather because that would have been too heavy. And there was another supplier, don't remember the name. Saw a documentary on that.

Bally isn't Bally anymore, just like Converse is Surgical appliance. So some people who bought the name did alot of marketing with the old Bally name and do obviously alot of crap, too. That does not mean those shoes are bad. But I highly doubt that model looks like 60s Bally tennis shoes. But that isn't the point. The point is: if you like them, everything is perfect. I bet you would like them still even if they don't look “authentic 1960s“ 😁

Re: The Question of Sneakers

That must as close as Bally could find to a pro wearing their sneakers...Billie does, afterall, start with a B!

I really wanted these the first time I saw them. But I wasn't prepared to pay the asking price, I didn't even want to pay with 30% off but when they hit 60 I was in. Still too much for canvas sneakers but they really float ma boat.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

A question of sneakers: I‘ve got my eyes on some white and red Reeb•k Classics but so far my trainers have all been made by Herr A.Dassler (US11.5/UK11 without fail). Does anyone know how sizing tends to run between the two brands?

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Have never had a pair of Reeboks personally but given that Adid@s now owns Reebok I would guess the sizing is similar.  Just a guess though.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Thanks Stan.

Tretorn are owned by N†Ike now so I am not surprised these bear a resemblance.
Also why they are so much more expensive than a couple years ago.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Hi Chief
I was thinking of getting  pair of the Tretorn Nylite on the strength of your recommendations last year. Quick question regarding sizing- do you find them pretty true to size ? For example, personally I always find N!k3  a bit small, whereas Adidaz/ Converse & Vans all fit me fine true to size.
Thanks

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Yeah the Nylites and Rawlinsare true to size.

But I haven't bought they new breed of Nylites, myself. My brother just bought a pair and said good things about them- except the increased price wink.
