I'm still fascinated by the 'peg' heel tho', did it actually make any difference ?

Im not sure how you fit jogging round your drinking schedule?

Re: The Question of Sneakers

These are basically the three types of vans I like..the excat colourways...excellent choice Jivy...I currently own the bottom pair..Ive yet to get the PF flyers but I think the hitops in red look great.. also the Keds courtmasters in plain white are great, and I did go into JS to get the CVOs but they were out of 12s..

Adders, supergra, and the keds plimsols Ive never been too keen on.. I think it just comes down to personal taste with shoes whether trainers or not

Re: The Question of Sneakers

http://pillowheat.com is a really rad source of vintage/deadstock made in USA Vans. He's expensive when the product is really rare/desirable but style #44's can be only 45/60 which is a bargain in my eyes. Man, I wish they'd get hip to how much better the original lasts were...

It was when I started to have a 'turn-araound pint' at the half way point of my route that I stopped the running and just went directly to the pub wink

Re: The Question of Sneakers

I really wish these made-in-USA PF Flyers didn't say 'made-in-USA' on them, definitely detracts from the 'heritage' aspect

There's a Buzz Rickson made-in-Japan version that looks nicer although not really worth the price http://www.superdenim.com/pfflyers-denim.asp

One for us Limeys: NOS ex-military plimsolls circa '75-'88. Gum rubber soles, canvas uppers and dimple cap toes for the princely sum of 9.95. Size 9 only though.

I have owned these and they were terribly hard on my feet. The heel cup is a thinly covered bit of plastic that shaved skin and bone off my heels, hobbling me as successfully as Annie Wilkes hobbled Paul Sheldon...For a bonus point, name that movie?!

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Anyone know where you can get classic PF Flyer low tops in the UK? I'm after a navy pair.

Oh, and by the way - it's "daps".

I dig them and wear them often, if the quality is still decent I'm going to get another pair.

Their black looks navy, no?

I bought the white/white nylites a month ago. Great shoe. One of the many things I like about them is that there is no chaffing of the little toe. In the summer, when your feet "expand", my Supergas and Cons have done damage. The Tretorn Nylites, however, have no side seam or stitching. And so our love affair continues..

Very decent shoe. Quality comfort sole. And the fact they deliver to your door in about 3 days direct from Tretorn for about 40 all in, shipping included, makes them a very satisfying purchase every time.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

that's gotta smart !

I bought some leather tretorns a few years back and have to say I was disappointed to see a hole appear in the sole that was disproportionate to the amount of time I had been wearing them. Good looking shoe though.
