Those Simples were a hot item when I was in high school. I never owned a pair, but new plenty of people that did.
incoming: Incontinence pants slides in navy/white and a pair of Vans Old Skools in crimson for old Captain Blood here.
Color me Casual.
How are the modern PF Flyer Windjammers quality-wise?
I haven't had such good experience with their center lo sneakers, which are cheap made-in-China crap.
Sperry CVO Update:
I came across these on shoebuy.com:
http://www.shoebuy.com/sperry-top-sider-cvo-2/652416
Enter promo code "RESOLVE16" for an additional 20% savings. The total (with free shipping) came to approx. $45 - A great deal for us Americans!
These are NOT the 75th Anniversary Edition CVO's, but as far as I can tell, the only discernible difference between the two models is the stitched label at the tongue versus the cloud stamped logo on the Anniversary models. I believe the last is the same and color identical.
For those in the UK, I've stumbled upon the following e-tailers who stock them as well:

I was able to score a pair of navy 75th Ann. CVO's from a retail shop in Maine after making several phone calls this morning; they found one last back stocked pair stowed away in my size. I should be receiving them in about a week, so I'll compare them to the order that I placed with shoebuy.com and post detailed side-by-side pics, for anyone interested.
The only downside is the above CVO's are Chinese made. Does anyone know if the 75th Ann. Sperry Top-Siders were made in the US?

the 75s were also made in China not the US
Thanks for the link, ace

The Vans Authentics are good quality and look the part IMO, at least for an after '65 look... They are MUCH better than Keds for example..
Rod Lavers on hold until further notice ... the pair I was sent had inner soles that were already coming loose before I put them on ... Will find a good pair eventually.
Not having great luck on the Incontinence pants sneakers front, situation has been problematic for years now, been late on the draw when there were things I liked, etc., but I still dig the company and do have a want list of their shizz.

Oh I like the Vans repros but nothing tops the original Top-Siders imo!
For $45 those shoebuy CVOs are hard to snub... from the S.S. Minnow to the Wreck Bar at The Yankee Clipper!
Oliver, those top-siders great. I am usually a US 10.5 but they size small don`t they. So better to go for a size 11?
I sized up from my usual 8.5 US to a 9, so I'd probably recommend doing the same
Yup, bang tidy indeed, but not a wallet friendly option, I also rather like the Shoes Like Pottery lo tops, but again prohibitively expensive.
^ T, if you fancy a pair of 'shoes like pottery' keep an eye in the sales.
Got a pair from oi-polloi last year for £30.
They do look great but not very robust uppers (mine are f***ed after only a summers wear).
Derms, +1, Authentics are a way of life!
Bop I can 't tell you how much I loved that Devo clip and Devo, that Ibanez Iceman in the video was too funny, thanks, I was deeply into the Devo last week ....
Tom and Adam, those Wakouwa CVOs are too tasty but way out of my price range, damn
Nice shoe. The 'scientific shoe fitting' sounds wonderfully ridiculous.
