Re: Surf Ivy/ The west coast look

I am low-slung and faded Ivy today. I'm in my new 501 CTs. These things are awesome. They're better than any 501s I had back in my lazy summer poolside college daze.

Anyway I'm just posting this as a kind of PSA cuz I think they have a rather cool surf-ish vibe. I bought mine true to size and they are still a bit slouchy, which I like. I bought the Joseph color.

God, what's next for me? Shorts?

Re: Surf Ivy/ The west coast look

I know. Cool, right? I take it you like 'em? I do think that "slouchy and low-slung" is the way to go with these. Otherwise, I think it just looks like another pair of slim jeans. I get this fit by buying my normal size, which, oddly enough, gives me about an inch or more extra room in the waist. Not quite sure I get this, but whatever. It seems to work. I imagine if I went up for the slouchy look, as Levi's suggest, they'd be way too baggy, to where they'd be falling off my ass.

This is actually the second pair I own. I bought some white ones a couple months ago, and they're the best white jeans I think I've ever owned.

Re: Surf Ivy/ The west coast look

Oh, I'm a bad man. I ordered a few Birdwells. One thing I'm learning is that if I want to swim more than once every few days, I need more than my one pair of Saturdays NYC trunks. So... I figgered... Birdwells.

I can't believe I've never watched that movie. I must get more culture into my life.

Re: Surf Ivy/ The west coast look

Caught some city pool action this afternoon in my old Saturdays NYC trunks. It was enjoyable but there were too many motherfuckers messing around in the lap lanes where they shouldn't have been. I couldn't get much serious swim in.

So what's a guy to do but pull up a deck chair and watch the girls go by.

Re: Surf Ivy/ The west coast look

Very nice, Chipper... It's always nice to have that one book that brings back the feel of summer. Mine would probably be "Islands In The Stream"... Not exactly Hemingway's best as far as narrative but very evocative
