Re: What Are You Wearing Today?

I was very tempted by this vintage heavy tweed suit today..it was a perfect fit...I'm still considering it now...the check had lovely tones of lilac and allsorts running thru... I may go back tomo and get it..the rise was incredible at a guess 15/16 inches

Man, that suit does look to fit great.  Are you going to get it?

Justify the spending?  Hahaha.  There's a novel idea.  Where do you come up with this stuff?

If she doesn't learn to compromise then things are never going to work.

You can't seriously think that shirt goes with that coat?

Re: What Are You Wearing Today?

Bop, you are absolutely correct. With my excitement in receiving that jacket, I prematurely posted a "look" that was not complete and a dash of white would have pulled it together. Thank you for being constructive.
As to the rest of you, it completely stuns me that fully grown men treat perfect strangers so, so poorly. I mean, where does that come from? I've never been anything other than kind, courteous, constructive and respectful to any member of this site. I'm proud of the way I've conducted myself as a member, especially since being a gentleman is in the origins of, and is part and parcel of this Ivy, Trad, whatever you want to name it, culture.
I have no time for this venomous site any longer. I've never seen a group of men act so vile in my entire life and I've worked in the tattoo industry for over 20 years. Anyone familiar with that particular trade will fully understand what I mean by that.
I am very aware of the great British tradition of piss taking, and as most of the members of this forum are from the UK, I expected a bit of good natured ribbing.
The fact is, almost none of you are Ivy. Almost none of you have been within 500 miles of any Ivy League school. The closest most of you have gotten is Hackney Community College or some other dank and dismal British educational "center".
Now I am not going to tar you all with the same brush, I've have some very pleasant encounters with a few members and I have a lot of time for them, but, I'm afraid that the majority of you are just saddos posing as intelligentsia who think they're dressing like the Americans who they so desperately want to be.
Now I must be off.. I'm going to walk my amazing dogs and watch the sunset on the beach, 300 feet from my flat overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

Re: What Are You Wearing Today?

This is the Wardrobe, not Talk Ivy. That coat has Anglo shoulders and darts. If your look of aggressive demeanor is meant to be street wise cool, you failed.  That shirt looks shit with that coat. Your tatts are a mess, and I like tatts. I really don't know what you expected? Its such a bad look all round, tatty (no pun intended) and cheap. If only your clothes were as grand as your ego. In short; while YOU think you look cool, others see you as looking like a cock. "A look that wasn't complete". lol.  Twat.

Re: What Are You Wearing Today?

Emotions aside, Id say, if we're just talking about clothes, the colour of your tats does something cool with the colour of the shirt...however the tones need attention through the outfit. And the reason it doesnt work is because the tonal logic going from you coat to your shirt to your skin tone never reaches a light enough tint to balance the dark grey/black of the coat.id liken it to no treble in the mix. Soggs can see this instinctively as being wrong, but Id like to highlight that it can be made right without changing the shirt. There is something quite fun about taking two clashing elements and finding that third element that balances them...someone once said you often learn more when something goes wrong than right. I dont see Soggs' comments being wholly constructive even if he's right...maybe he prefers the Gordon Ramsey approach to critique.

It's all very well saying something doesn't work, but why doesn't something work? Get down to the nitty gritty leave the bullshit aside I say. How do you learn if you can't communicate the problem?

Re: What Are You Wearing Today?

GW's comments may not have been 'wholly contructive' but they caused YSR to make his true feelings known, which has proved pretty insightful.
