I go with Ian Strachan of The Ivy Shop: "People shop here if they want something smart but a bit different."
So that's MY Ivy - Something smart but a bit different. That I first saw the style on Black Jazzmen has very little significance. I might venerate them, but I've never aspired to being one of them.
To each their own Ivy.
Why Ivy for you ?
For me its a mixture of hero worship and the Waspy take on appropriate dress.
I always felt that for Incognito the Ivy thing was about taking his teenage young fogey SW1 thing and infusing it with a bit of naff Americana. 'Proper' gear worn incorrectly. I meanwhile thought the Bass Weejun could be an instrument of revolution. We each bring our own fantasies to our wardrobes.
I just want to pretend that I graduated from Harvard before upholding my preppy elite values.
Wow. Amazing this stuff irritates you so much you feel the need to tamper with the copy. Might I suggest : if you're going to change the words to humorous effect you should make it funny.
'Gordon, Gordon, give us a wave' we used to sing at Saints away games.
Sometimes, I don't understand you guys at all.
We are just a stupid bunch of Limeys Joey.
My humor is particularly childish and is probably not understood by most Brits.
Back to the OP, for me its Movies , Music, family and the fact that i am a casual but smart type of guy.
Also Stan is clearly no Benedict Arnold but i have actually danced on BA's grave on a number of occasions ... True story.
Well said Sidewinder.
