Nice,  look better than the originals.  Which is rare with reissues.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

I'm in two minds about these. At first sight they look rather interesting and the proximity of a (presumably) attractive female in the lower picture may count as something of a promise. But then I wonder about brogueing on a mocc — is this a stroke of genius or simply a silent mess? From what I can see, the facings are rather short compared to the toe, something that many cheaper brands don't seem to get right. Throws a shoe right out of balance. Barring the Weejuns, the rest of Bass's current range doesn't look too encouraging, too naff, something you might buy at a mall. A bit like Florsheim or Grenson.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

These are based on the 50s Sportoccasin - a classic from the archive. What attracts me is the commando sole as a solution to wearin this style of shoe in inclement weather. What is it about the original you dislike Tommy as these are pretty much the same other than the sole?

Personally I think the denims in the lower image don't sit well with the shoe but I like the image of them together.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

I don't dislike the originals,  I nearly brought a pair last year,  I just think these look nicer- little details like having the grained and smooth patches swapped around and the soles as well?

Re: Bass Fall 2015

Thanks, I ignored the fact they were reissues. They could do with a sixth eyelet though like some originals seem to have had, or at least google suggests so. We'll see.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

The 'pebble grain' leather on these is not good,
it's the same stuff they did those limited edition loafers for Mr Porter in and it's the pebble grain equivalent of their current shiny crap.
The soles look good tho.

Shame Acton - but not surprised. As I said these were not at the last trade show so was only going on the pictures.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

^ it's a real pity, love the shape and soles but I'm very hesitant to part with cash (they are gonna be about £120rrp).

Worth keeping an eye on the US Bass website, more 'made in USA' styles are being added for Fall/Winter, a little bit pricey but the leather (Horween sourced) and manufacturing quality  (Rancourt are making them for Bass) marks them out as having potential.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

^ I ended up getting two pair of them (in the Nordstrom's sale, which is still on by the way) on your recommendation Bop.
I heartily concur on the grippy-ness of the sole.

Re: Bass Fall 2015

^ heartily concur with Leer, they've got the look sorted but the quality can be a bit 'shonky'.
If the shoes at the flagship store in London are anything to go by, the only quality looking shoes were the £290 'handstitched' Horween leather limited editions.
What I find a bit weird is their pricing, as you can get all the same shoes from the USA at Nordstroms ( and a few other other online stores) and they still come in cheaper (including post, customs and duty).

I think the Bucks would fly out the door, don't understand why they are not offered here.
